What an Investment Proposal Request Is

An Investment Proposal Request is a formal written package used to solicit capital from prospective investors by summarizing the opportunity, the amount of funding sought, use of proceeds, projected financial returns, key risks, timeline, and required documentation. It standardizes information for screening and comparison, clarifies investor eligibility and minimum commitments, and sets initial terms to guide due diligence and negotiation toward a potential term sheet and closing.

Why a Clear Request Matters

A well-prepared Investment Proposal Request gives investors consistent data for evaluation, reduces back-and-forth during diligence, and helps align expectations on valuation, governance, and milestones.

Why a Clear Request Matters

Typical Parties Preparing and Reviewing Requests

Venture-backed startups, private companies, municipal project sponsors, and family offices commonly use Investment Proposal Requests to start fundraising processes.

  • Startups and founders seeking seed or Series A capital from angel investors or VCs.
  • Private equity and investment firms evaluating deal pipelines and term sheets.
  • Corporate development teams assessing acquisitions, strategic investments, or joint ventures.

Reviewers include investment committees, underwriters, legal counsel, and accredited investors who assess financial models, legal risk, and projected returns.
