Insurance Gaps: Insufficient coverage exposes parties to uncovered losses
Increased Liability: Undefined liability limits increase financial exposure
Operational Delays: Missing routing or appointment details cause detention
Billing Disputes: Vague rate references cause reconciliation conflicts
Regulatory Noncompliance: Industry-specific omissions can trigger fines

Common Preparation Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using vague scope language such as 'transportation as required' that leaves performance expectations undefined and creates room for disputes during claims and billing reconciliation.
  • Mismatched or informal party names (DBA instead of legal entity) that complicate enforcement, vendor onboarding, tax reporting, and insurance verification during claims.
  • Omitting clear service-level metrics, appointment windows, and remedies, which leads to inconsistent operational performance and difficulties in applying credits or penalties.
  • Neglecting to confirm insurance types and minimum limits, allowing cargo loss or damage claims to fall outside specified coverage and creating direct financial liability.
