What the Market Square Business Template Is and When It Applies

The Market Square Business Template is a standardized business profile and agreement used for onboarding vendors and listing businesses on a marketplace platform. It collects core legal and operational details—entity name, tax identifier, contact information, scope of services, pricing terms, insurance and indemnity clauses, and signature blocks—so marketplace operators and third parties can verify eligibility, process payments, and display accurate listings. The template is designed for digital completion, supports conditional fields to reduce unnecessary inputs, and can be executed electronically under U.S. e-signature law where permitted.

Why organizations use this template

Using a standardized Market Square Business Template reduces onboarding friction, creates consistent records for compliance and tax reporting, and centralizes vendor terms. Clear fields and required attachments streamline verification and reduce rework across operations, finance, and legal teams while providing a single source of truth for marketplace listings and transactional relationships.

Why organizations use this template

Who completes and relies on the template

Completed templates serve as the primary onboarding record and support audit trails, tax reporting, and dispute resolution across teams.

  • Marketplace operators and operations teams managing vendor intake and KYC verification.
  • Small business owners and sole proprietors registering for listings and payment setup.
  • Finance, compliance, and legal teams using completed templates for tax reporting and contract records.

Step-by-step completion in one pass

Complete the template in the following order to ensure required fields and attachments are captured and validated before final signature.

  • 01
Gather documents: Collect formation documents, W-9 or EIN proof, and insurance certificates.
  • 02
Enter details: Fill every required field using the field guide formats.
  • 03
Attach proofs: Upload PDFs of W-9, business license, and insurance evidence.
  • 04
Sign and submit: Authorized signer executes the document and submits for verification.

Contact Email: Business address
Physical Address: Street, city, state, ZIP
Authorized Signer: Name and title
Attachments: W-9, license, insurance

Consequences of incomplete or incorrect information

Incorrect TIN: Triggers 24% backup withholding
Late 1099 filing: $60–$330 per form under IRC §6721
Intentional disregard: $660+ per form, no cap
I-9 paperwork errors: $281–$2,789 per violation
Missing insurance: Contractual exposure and denied claims
Invalid signature: Document may be unenforceable

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using a trade name instead of the legal entity name causes mismatches during banking or tax validation and can delay onboarding.
  • Uploading low-quality scans or cropped documents that omit page numbers or signatures leads to manual review and rejection.
  • Failing to list the authorized signer’s title causes signature authority disputes and may require a corporate resolution to correct.
  • Skipping the W-9 or entering an incorrect TIN triggers backup withholding and requires corrected filings with the IRS.
