What the Mobile Service Statement Is

A Mobile Service Statement documents the terms, contacts, and technical details of mobile device–based services provided to a client or customer. It records scope of service, device or application identifiers, service windows, points of contact, and any agreed performance metrics or limitations. The form is used to confirm responsibilities for provisioning, support, data usage, and security controls when services are delivered or accessed via mobile devices. It can be completed as a standalone agreement, an exhibit to a master services agreement, or a compliance record for regulated industries.

Why a Mobile Service Statement Matters

A clear Mobile Service Statement reduces ambiguity around mobile access, clarifies responsibilities for data protection, and creates an auditable record for compliance and billing. It helps technical, legal, and operational teams align on deliverables and limits disputes about scope or device management.

Why a Mobile Service Statement Matters

Who Typically Completes This Statement

Organizations and individuals who manage or consume mobile-delivered services prepare this statement to document scope, security, and contact information.

  • IT and mobile operations teams managing device fleets and service SLAs across the organization.
  • Vendors and MSPs supplying mobile applications, connectivity, or device management services to customers.
  • Legal, procurement, or compliance officers who need a record of agreed mobile security and access terms.

The statement is relevant across industries where mobile access affects data protection, billing, or operational continuity.

Core Elements to Include in a Professional Statement

A complete Mobile Service Statement should include identifiable parties, a precise scope of services, device and application details, service levels, security controls, and contact and escalation procedures.

Parties

Names and legal entity details for service provider and recipient, including billing contact and technical contact.

Scope

Specific services provided via mobile devices, features enabled, permitted use cases, and any excluded services.

Device Details

Model, OS, app version, device identifiers (if applicable), and provisioning or enrollment method.

Service Levels

Uptime expectations, support hours, response times, and maintenance windows.

Security Controls

Required authentication, encryption, MDM/EMM requirements, data residency, and breach notification processes.

Contacts & Escalation

Primary and secondary technical and business contacts, and escalation steps for incidents.

Step-by-Step: Filling Out a Mobile Service Statement

Follow these sequential steps to complete and verify the statement before deployment or billing.

Configuring an Online Completion Workflow

Set up a digital workflow that routes the statement for review, signature, and archival to maintain chain-of-custody and auditability.

Field Configuration
Routing Order Define signer sequence and conditional reviewers
Authentication Choose email, SMS OTP, or stronger verifier
Notifications Set reminders and escalation if unsigned
Storage Archive signed records in a secure, access-controlled repository

Typical Digital Submission Flow

Use a clear digital flow to minimize signer friction while preserving legal validity and a complete audit trail.

  • Upload Document: Initiator uploads the completed template
  • Place Fields: Assign signature, date, and text fields to parties
  • Send for Signature: System sends email or link to signer
  • Capture Audit Trail: Platform records IP, timestamps, and actions

Technical Options for eSubmission and Signing

Choose a signing platform that meets your authentication and integration needs, and supports secure storage and audit logging.

  • Authentication: Email link, SMS OTP, KBA, or advanced signer authentication
  • Integrations: Connectors for CRM, ERP, cloud storage, and MDM systems
