What the Performance Contortionist Agreement Covers

A Performance Contortionist Agreement is a written contract between an event organizer, venue, or production company and a contortionist (or the contortionist's agent) that sets the terms for a live or recorded performance. Typical provisions define the scope of performance, dates and times, compensation and payment schedule, travel and lodging responsibilities, health and safety and medical clearance requirements, insurance and indemnity obligations, intellectual property and recording rights, termination and cancellation terms, and dispute resolution terms. It establishes each party's responsibilities and reduces ambiguity that can lead to disputes or liability exposure.

Why a Written Agreement Matters for Contortion Performances

A clear Performance Contortionist Agreement allocates risk, ensures timely payment, documents safety and medical requirements, and records rights for recordings and publicity. Written terms reduce misunderstandings, support insurance claims, and provide enforceable remedies if a party breaches its obligations.

Why a Written Agreement Matters for Contortion Performances

Who Typically Prepares and Signs This Agreement

Parties and professionals who commonly use this agreement include event producers, talent agents, and venue operators seeking to engage contortion performers under defined terms.

  • Production companies booking live acts for shows, festivals, or corporate events, managing logistics and backstage requirements.
  • Performers and talent agencies representing contortionists and negotiating compensation, restrictions, and IP rights on behalf of talent.
  • Venue managers and promoters responsible for safety, insurance verification, and event scheduling coordination.

Use the agreement whenever a paid performance, rehearsal, or recorded session is scheduled to protect both the performer and the engager.
