Common Mistakes and How They Cause Problems

  • Missing emergency contact or outdated phone numbers can delay care and increase liability exposure.
  • Vague medication instructions or omitted dosages create a risk of incorrect administration or need for emergency vet intervention.
  • Unclear access instructions (wrong gate code, hidden leash location) cause missed walks and property damage disputes.
  • Incomplete authorization language or unsigned forms can prevent vets or insurers from accepting responsibility for treatment costs.

Potential Risks and Consequences of an Incorrect Form

Liability Exposure: Increased owner/walker risk
Denied Claims: Insurance may refuse payment
Service Refusal: Provider may decline service
Contract Disputes: Disagreements escalate to legal action
Billing Errors: Incorrect charges or refunds
Regulatory Issues: Local ordinances may be violated
