Overview of the Project Management New Horizons Project

The Project Management New Horizons Project is a structured project charter and management plan used to define scope, objectives, stakeholders, deliverables, schedule, budget, risks, and acceptance criteria for a named initiative. It combines a high-level executive summary with implementation-level artifacts such as milestones, resource assignments, communication protocols, and a risk register to guide execution from kickoff through closure and post-project review.

Why this project document matters

A clear Project Management New Horizons Project document aligns stakeholders, sets measurable targets, reduces rework, and creates a documented baseline for scope, cost, and schedule decisions throughout delivery.

Why this project document matters

Who typically completes and uses this project plan

Project managers, sponsors, and functional leads compile and maintain the Project Management New Horizons Project as the authoritative execution document.

  • Project Managers — coordinate resources, track milestones, and update the schedule during execution.
  • Business Sponsors — approve scope, budget adjustments, and acceptance criteria for deliverables.
  • Functional Leads — provide task estimates, resource assignments, and technical sign-off during validation.

The document serves both as a working plan for the delivery team and as a governance record for auditors and stakeholders.

  • Not documenting assumptions and constraints leads to misunderstandings about responsibilities and hidden costs during delivery.
