What the Project Management Salesforce Delivery document is

The Project Management Salesforce Delivery documents scope, milestones, deliverables, responsibilities, and acceptance criteria associated with delivering Salesforce-based projects. It typically ties a project plan to Salesforce objects (Accounts, Opportunities, Cases) and records the delivery steps, signoffs, and change-control process required to move work from kickoff to production deployment.

Why a formal delivery record matters

A documented Project Management Salesforce Delivery clarifies expectations, reduces scope disputes, and establishes traceable acceptance criteria linked to CRM records, supporting accountability and auditability across technical and business teams.

Why a formal delivery record matters

Typical teams and roles that complete this delivery record

Project managers, implementation consultants, technical leads, and client success managers commonly prepare and route this document during Salesforce engagements.

  • Implementation teams: Capture configuration, data migration, and integration milestones tied to Salesforce objects and release windows.
  • Client stakeholders: Review acceptance criteria, verify delivered features, and approve signoffs within CRM workflows.
  • Legal and procurement: Validate scope, payment terms, and change-control language prior to final acceptance.

The document bridges project execution and contractual acceptance and is often archived on the Salesforce record for future reference and audits.

Core components to include in a professional delivery record

Include clear scope, measurable acceptance criteria, milestone dates, responsibilities, change-control steps, and signature blocks so stakeholders can confirm delivery and close the work in Salesforce.

Scope

Concise description of included features, configuration items, and integration points tied to Salesforce objects and records.

Milestones

Named milestones with target dates, responsible party, and links to relevant Salesforce records or deployment packages.

Deliverables

Specific artifacts to be delivered (e.g., metadata package, data load summary, test results, runbooks) with version identifiers.

Acceptance criteria

Measurable criteria for each deliverable such as test pass rates, user acceptance test scenarios, or configuration confirmations.

Change control

Process for submitting, approving, and tracking scope changes, including approval thresholds and impact assessment.

Signatures

Authorized signers, dates, and role definitions; record electronic acceptance and audit trail information.

Step-by-step: completing and routing the Salesforce delivery form

Follow these steps to complete, validate, and route the delivery record so it becomes a formal acceptance tied to the Salesforce project record.

  • 01
Prepare document: Populate project fields and attach deployment artifacts.
  • 02
Map to Salesforce: Link document to the Account/Opportunity or attach to the Project record.
  • 03
Request approvals: Route to stakeholders in role order and require explicit acceptance.
  • 04
Archive signed record: Save final PDF and audit trail to Salesforce Files or external archive.

Typical digital workflow settings for e-submission

Configure signer order, authentication, and Salesforce mapping to maintain traceability and reduce manual steps.

Field Configuration
Signer Authentication Email link plus optional SMS code
Document Template Salesforce quote or project delivery template mapped
Routing Order Sequential signer order with escalation
Archive Location Salesforce Files on the Account record

Where to submit and how documents flow

Delivery records should be stored with corresponding Salesforce records and routed through a controlled eSignature workflow to preserve auditability.

  • Upload to Salesforce: Attach PDF to the related Account or Opportunity record.
  • Route via eSignature: Send through a signed eSignature workflow with audit trail.
  • Store audit trail: Save completion certificate alongside signed document.
  • Record change log: Update project status and notes in Salesforce.

Technical integrations and platform needs

Ensure integrations and document formats are compatible with your Salesforce instance and chosen eSignature provider.

  • Integrations: Salesforce, NetSuite, Google Workspace supported
  • Supported formats: PDF, DOCX and HTML
  • Authentication: Email, SMS, or advanced options

Confirm API access level, field mappings, and storage locations before initiating automated routing to avoid ingestion errors.

  • Using inconsistent signer names or emails can invalidate electronic attribution and delay approval when identity proofing is required.
  • Skipping a documented change-control process leads to scope creep and billing disagreements between parties.
