What a Real Estate Sod Agreement Covers

A Real Estate Sod Agreement is a written contract between a property owner and a sod supplier or installer that documents the sale, delivery, installation, and initial care of turf on a specified parcel. The agreement typically identifies the parties, describes the sod type and quantity, sets installation and acceptance dates, defines payment terms and any retainage, allocates responsibility for site preparation and irrigation, and states warranty and maintenance obligations. It creates clear performance standards and remedies for defective work, delays, or damage, and may reference permitting or inspection requirements when applicable.

Why a Written Sod Agreement Matters

A clear written agreement reduces disputes by fixing scope, schedule, price, and warranty terms for turf supply and installation. It protects both owner and contractor by documenting expectations and remedies.

Why a Written Sod Agreement Matters

Who typically completes or signs a Sod Agreement

The agreement is used by parties involved in installing or supplying sod for residential, commercial, or municipal properties.

  • Property owners and landlords seeking delivered and installed turf with defined warranties and acceptance terms.
  • Landscaping contractors and sod suppliers documenting material specifications, installation responsibilities, and payment milestones.
  • General contractors or project managers coordinating sod installation as part of broader site work or construction schedules.

Signers should confirm they have authority to bind their organization and preserve a signed copy for warranty and payment records.
