What the Residential Shades and Blinds Order Is

A Residential Shades and Blinds Order is a written record that captures a homeowner's or installer’s product selections, exact window measurements, finish and control options, pricing, delivery and installation terms, and signature lines for buyer and supplier. It serves as the binding purchase and work authorization document used by manufacturers, retailers, and installers to manufacture, schedule, and install window treatments.

Why a Clear Order Matters for Installations

A complete order reduces manufacturing errors, ensures installers have correct measurements, provides a defensible record of customer choices and pricing, and clarifies delivery and warranty terms to reduce disputes and rework.

Why a Clear Order Matters for Installations

Who Completes and Signs This Order

The Residential Shades and Blinds Order is completed by sales representatives, installers, contractors, or homeowners authorizing work.

  • Retail Sales Teams and Showrooms — Record selected products, finish options, and deposit terms to confirm customer intent and pricing.
  • On-site Installers and Contractors — Capture measured dimensions, site access notes, and installation preferences so manufacturing and scheduling match field conditions.

Key Elements of a Professional Order Form

Include clear, structured sections so manufacturers, shippers, and installers can act without clarification requests.

Measurement Table

Provide a labeled table for each window with inside/outside mount, width, height, and measurement reference points so factory tolerances and installer expectations match.

Product Specification

List manufacturer model numbers, fabric names, hardware finishes, control types, and any child-safety devices to prevent substitutions and ensure build accuracy.

Pricing Breakdown

Show unit cost, taxes, discounts, deposit required, and balance due to reduce disputes and to make change orders transparent for customers and accounting.

Delivery Instructions

Specify delivery address, preferred carrier, staging location, and special access notes to prevent failed deliveries and to align installer scheduling.

Installation Notes

Document site conditions, required permits, parking instructions, or homeowner responsibilities to reduce day-of-install problems and additional charges.

Terms and Warranty

Clearly state lead times, cancellation policy, warranty coverage, and acceptance criteria so obligations and remedies are defined before production begins.

Supporting Documents to Attach to the Order

Attach related documents to reduce clarification cycles and to create a complete fulfillment package for manufacturing and installers.

Site Photos

Proof of Payment

Include deposit receipts or payment confirmation to document authorization to begin production and to prevent scheduling disputes.

Warranty Terms
