What the Residential Withdrawal and Occupancy Form Is

The Residential Withdrawal and Occupancy Form documents a tenant's decision to withdraw from or occupy a residential property and records the effective dates, reason for withdrawal (if any), and any conditions tied to occupancy. It creates a written record that landlords, property managers, and tenants can rely on for move-in/move-out scheduling, security deposit handling, and lease reconciliation. In many jurisdictions the form supports electronic execution under ESIGN and UETA and may be paired with notarization or witness statements where state law requires additional authentication.

Why this Form Matters for Tenancy Records

A clear written form reduces disputes about occupancy dates, documents the tenant’s intent, and provides a traceable record for deposit, billing, and enforcement purposes.
