What the Shipment Automation Document Is

The Shipment Automation Document is a standardized template and workflow definition used to automate the creation, routing, and approval of shipping-related paperwork across a logistics operation. It consolidates order details, carrier instructions, customs data, and signature capture into a single machine-readable record to reduce manual entry, speed carrier handoffs, and produce an auditable record for compliance, billing, and dispute resolution.

Why the Shipment Automation Document Matters for Compliance and Efficiency

Use this document to reduce manual errors, shorten pickup and delivery cycles, and provide a consistent legal record; executed electronically it relies on ESIGN (15 U.S.C. ch. 96) and UETA where applicable for enforceability.
