What the Signature Agreement for Piers and Slab Covers

A Signature Agreement for Piers and Slab is a written contract that documents the scope, specifications, schedule, payment terms, permitting and acceptance criteria for foundation work involving piers and slab construction. It identifies the parties, materials, subcontractor responsibilities, and inspection milestones, and establishes change‑order and warranty procedures. In the United States the agreement can be executed electronically where permitted by the ESIGN Act (15 U.S.C. ch. 96) and state UETA laws; properly executed electronic records include an audit trail that supports enforceability.

Why a Formal Signed Agreement Matters for Piers and Slab Work

A signed agreement reduces ambiguity about scope, schedules, payments, change orders and inspection acceptance, lowering dispute risk and clarifying lien and warranty rights while supporting compliance with permitting and lender requirements.

Why a Formal Signed Agreement Matters for Piers and Slab Work

Who Typically Prepares and Signs This Agreement

The agreement is used by contractors, property owners, lenders, and inspectors to record responsibilities and approval paths before foundation work begins.

  • General contractors and subcontractors who perform pier and slab foundation work and manage inspections and change orders.
  • Property owners and developers who require clear pricing, timelines, permit compliance and warranty commitments.
  • Lenders, surveyors or building inspectors who need documented acceptance criteria and signed confirmation for disbursements or occupancy.

Parties rely on the signed contract to confirm scope, permit conditions, payment schedules and post‑completion obligations.

Typical Signers and Their Roles

General Contractor

The contractor signs to accept scope, schedule and pricing, certifies compliance with building codes and permits, and agrees to provide required insurance, bond and inspection coordination.
