What the Sisterhood Agreement Form Is and When It’s Used

A Sisterhood Agreement Form is a written contract used by members of a sorority, chapter, or affiliated group to record shared expectations, member responsibilities, confidentiality terms, and dispute resolution procedures. It typically identifies the parties, outlines conduct standards, sets effective and termination dates, and describes remedies for breaches. While often informal among chapter members, the document can be drafted to be legally enforceable as a contract. Electronic completion and signatures are allowed under U.S. law when the parties demonstrate intent, consent, attribution, and retention capability.

Why a Clear Sisterhood Agreement Matters

A written Sisterhood Agreement reduces misunderstandings, documents member commitments, preserves institutional memory, and creates a predictable process for addressing conflicts. Properly prepared agreements also clarify financial obligations, confidentiality expectations, and membership termination rules.

Why a Clear Sisterhood Agreement Matters

Who Typically Uses the Sisterhood Agreement Form

Chapters, executive boards, alumni councils, and individual members commonly rely on a Sisterhood Agreement to set consistent expectations and protect chapter reputation.

  • Chapter leadership and officers who manage membership and chapter-level rules
  • New members during intake, orientation, or membership confirmation processes
  • Alumni advisors and national/umbrella organizations overseeing compliance and governance
