What a Soft Wash Service Agreement Covers

A Soft Wash Service Agreement is a written contract between a service provider and a property owner that defines the scope, schedule, materials, safety practices, pricing, and responsibilities for low-pressure cleaning using detergent and chemical solutions. It documents site access, surface preparation, chemical disclosure, water runoff mitigation, required permits, insurance and indemnity terms, payment milestones, warranty limitations, and procedures for damage claims. The agreement reduces ambiguity, allocates risk, and creates a record suitable for electronic signature and later enforcement if needed.

Why a Clear Agreement Matters

A written Soft Wash Service Agreement clarifies responsibilities, documents chemical uses and environmental controls, sets payment and cancellation terms, and reduces disputes. Clear terms help contractors meet regulatory obligations and provide property owners with defined performance, warranty, and liability allocations.

Why a Clear Agreement Matters

Essential Sections to Include in the Agreement

A professional Soft Wash Service Agreement should be structured, concise, and cover safety, performance, and commercial terms so both parties understand obligations and remedies.

Scope of Work

Describe surfaces, square footage, methods, and exclusions. Include steps such as pre-rinse, detergent application, dwell time, and final rinse to set expectations and avoid scope creep.

Materials & Methods

List chemicals, concentrations, and application methods. Include safety data sheet (SDS) requirements and any restrictions on active ingredients or runoff handling to address environmental concerns.

Safety & Environmental

State required protective equipment, containment measures, and water discharge controls. Require compliance with local stormwater and pesticide discharge rules when applicable.

Payment Terms

Specify total price, deposit amount, invoicing schedule, late fees, and accepted payment methods. Tie final payment to completion and signed acceptance of work.

Insurance & Indemnity

Require general liability insurance limits, name the property owner as additional insured when requested, and allocate indemnity for third-party claims and property damage.

Warranty & Termination

Define limited warranty duration and remedial procedures for defects, early termination rights, cure periods, and remedies for breach or force majeure events.

Step-by-Step: Completing a Soft Wash Service Agreement

Follow these sequential steps to prepare, review, and finalize the agreement so both parties have a clear, enforceable document.

  • 01
Collect information: Gather property details, SDS documents, permits, and insurance certificates before drafting.
  • 02
Draft scope: Write a clear scope of work and attach diagrams or photos for reference.
  • 03
Review terms: Confirm payment schedule, cancellation policy, and liability allocation with counsel if necessary.
  • 04
Sign and store: Execute electronically or physically and retain copies for both parties and insurer records.

  • Not verifying contractor insurance limits and certificate endorsements, which can prevent property owners from obtaining recovery for third-party claims.
