What the Transportation Fiche Navette Is and when it’s used

The Transportation Fiche Navette is a standardized transport record used to document the movement of goods, equipment, or passengers between locations. It records shipment identifiers, sender and receiver details, carrier information, handling instructions, and key timestamps for pickup, transit, and delivery. Organizations use the fiche to track chain of custody, confirm receipt, support billing, and comply with regulatory inspections. This guide explains the form’s purpose, mandatory fields, common completion steps, digital signing options, and record-retention considerations relevant to U.S. operations.

Why a correctly completed Transportation Fiche Navette matters

A clear, complete fiche reduces delivery disputes, speeds invoicing, and preserves evidence for claims or audits. It supports operational traceability and helps meet regulatory or contractual obligations.

Typical users and signer roles for the fiche

Use the fiche consistently across routes to establish a reliable audit trail for logistics, billing, and incident response.

  • Warehouse and dispatch teams confirm pickup details, load condition, and carrier assignment; they use the fiche to trigger billing and inventory updates.
  • Drivers and couriers sign at handoff to acknowledge receipt and delivery times; their signatures support proof-of-delivery and liability allocation.
  • Receiving agents and clients sign on delivery to confirm items, note damage, and record discrepancies for claims processing.

Stepwise completion process for the fiche

Complete the fiche in sequence at each handoff to preserve an accurate chain of custody and to prevent later disputes.

  • 01
Prepare Document: Populate shipment ID and preloaded data before pickup.
  • 02
Record Pickup: Sign with date/time when carrier takes custody.
  • 03
Log Transit Notes: Add exceptions or handling events during transport.
  • 04
Confirm Delivery: Receiver signs, dates, and notes any discrepancies.
