What a Venue Building Use Agreement Covers

A Venue Building Use Agreement is a written contract that defines the rights and obligations of a venue owner or manager and an event organizer for use of physical premises. It sets the event dates, permitted activities, rental fees, deposits, insurance and indemnity requirements, access and security rules, maintenance and cleanup responsibilities, permit obligations, and conditions for termination or cancellation. The agreement establishes who may enter the site, how damages and liabilities will be handled, and how regulatory compliance (permits, safety, noise) will be managed during the term.

Why this Agreement Matters for Risk and Scheduling

Using a clear Venue Building Use Agreement reduces disputes, allocates liability, ensures insurance coverage, and ties fees to deliverables and dates. It protects owners and users by defining responsibilities, permit obligations, and remedies for breaches while documenting consent and expectations in a legally enforceable record.

Why this Agreement Matters for Risk and Scheduling

Typical Parties and Users of the Agreement

The Venue Building Use Agreement is used by a range of parties who manage, schedule, or consume venue services.

  • Venue owners or facility managers responsible for scheduling, maintenance, and risk oversight.
  • Event organizers, promoters, or rental clients booking dates, services, and vendor access.
  • Municipal agencies or community groups when public buildings or parks are reserved for events.

The same template can be adapted for private venues, municipal properties, or shared commercial spaces with minimal customization.
