Overview of the Wealth Management Platform Document

A Wealth Management Platform Document is a consolidated client-facing record used by advisory firms to capture account setup details, investment mandates, fee schedules, custody instructions, and compliance acknowledgements. It typically includes KYC (Know Your Customer) data, risk tolerance and investment objectives, beneficiary designations, and consent language for electronic records. The document is designed for secure distribution, signatures, and archival in a format admissible under U.S. electronic signature laws and regulatory retention rules applied to financial services providers.

Why this document matters for advisors and custodians

A standardized Wealth Management Platform Document clarifies client expectations, reduces onboarding delays, and centralizes compliance evidence. Properly executed electronic versions meet ESIGN and UETA standards for legal enforceability (see 15 U.S.C. ch. 96 and UETA) while preserving an audit trail required by regulators.

Why this document matters for advisors and custodians

Primary users and recipients

Typical users include registered investment advisors, broker-dealers, family offices, and clients completing onboarding or investment changes.

  • Private wealth advisors and RM teams who collect mandates, KYC, and fee consents during client onboarding and periodic review.
  • Broker-dealers and custodians who need standardized account instructions, beneficiary designations, and custody routing details for settlement.
  • Family offices, trustees, and corporate treasuries that centralize instructions, delegation authorities, and investment mandates for multiple accounts.

The document serves multiple internal teams—advisory, compliance, operations—and should be shared with custodians and legal counsel as needed.
