What the Employee Duty of Care Agreement Is

An Employee Duty of Care Agreement documents an employer’s expectations and an employee’s obligations to protect people, property, confidential information, and workplace safety. It typically covers safety procedures, reporting obligations, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, use of equipment, and compliance with policies. The agreement clarifies duties, sets behavioral standards, and creates a record that both parties understand legal and operational responsibilities within the employment relationship.

Why this Agreement Matters to Employers and Employees

A clear Employee Duty of Care Agreement reduces ambiguity about responsibilities, supports regulatory compliance, and documents supervisory and employee commitments. It helps manage risk, supports workplace safety programs, and supplies evidence of communicated expectations if a dispute or regulatory review arises.
