What an Employment Sub Offer Is and when it’s used

An Employment Sub Offer is a written, often conditional, offer presented to a candidate or subcontractor that defines assignment-specific terms, compensation, start date, and contingencies such as background checks, credential verification, drug testing, or client approval. It is commonly used by staffing firms, hiring managers, and project leads to document a temporary or assignment-based engagement before issuing a final offer or onboarding paperwork. The Sub Offer clarifies role scope, reporting relationships, duration, termination rights, and any compliance or client-imposed requirements that must be satisfied prior to full placement.

Why use an Employment Sub Offer

A clear Sub Offer reduces ambiguity, documents contingencies, and protects both parties by setting expectations before onboarding. It supports compliant hiring workflows and creates an auditable record of the hiring decision, which helps HR, legal, and clients coordinate next steps.

Why use an Employment Sub Offer

Core components included in a professional Employment Sub Offer
