What the HR Mentor-Mentee Agreement Covers

An HR Mentor-Mentee Agreement is a written record that defines the working relationship between an assigned mentor and mentee within an organization. It documents objectives, expected time commitments, meeting cadence, confidentiality obligations, specific development goals, performance metrics, and the planned duration of mentoring. The agreement also clarifies roles, escalation paths, reporting requirements to HR, and how progress will be measured. When signed by both parties, it creates mutual expectations and a reference for performance reviews, conflict resolution, and potential termination of the mentoring arrangement.

Why a Formal Agreement Matters for Mentoring

A written agreement reduces misunderstandings and sets measurable goals, making mentorship outcomes clearer for both participants and HR.
