What the Sales Vendor CCA Agreement Is and when it’s used

A Sales Vendor CCA Agreement is a contractual document used between a vendor and its sales channel or third-party sales partner to define the terms for customer credit card authorization, payment collection, and commission or compensation handling. The agreement records who is authorized to collect customer payment data, how authorizations are obtained and stored, the commission calculation method, responsibilities for chargebacks and refunds, and the required data-protection measures. It typically combines operational instructions, tax and reporting obligations, and clauses to ensure compliance with federal e-signature and financial-records rules.

Why a clear Sales Vendor CCA Agreement matters

A concise CCA agreement reduces payment disputes, clarifies commission entitlements, and establishes who bears liability for chargebacks and data breaches. It also documents consent and attribution needed for electronic signatures so the agreement is enforceable under the ESIGN Act (15 U.S.C. ch. 96) and state UETA rules.

Why a clear Sales Vendor CCA Agreement matters

Who typically completes or signs this agreement

The agreement is completed by commercial stakeholders who control payments, sales commissions, or customer authorization processes.

  • Vendor Sales Manager — Prepares terms, commission schedule, and named sales partners for signature; ensures operational alignment and reporting.
  • Third-Party Sales Agent — Reviews authorized actions, commission formula, and indemnities; provides required tax information and signature to accept terms.
  • Finance / Accounts Payable — Confirms payment routing, backup withholding obligations, and maintains records for tax reporting and audits.

Custodians in finance, sales operations, and legal should review the signed agreement and retain the executed copy per recordkeeping rules.
