What a Student Bursary Agreement Is

A Student Bursary Agreement is a written contract between a bursary provider—such as a scholarship fund, institution, or donor—and a student recipient that sets out eligibility criteria, award amount, disbursement schedule, permitted uses, reporting obligations, renewal conditions, and remedies for breach. The document records responsibilities, clarifies tax and data-sharing expectations, and creates an auditable record for institutional or donor oversight and compliance purposes.

Why Formalize a Bursary with an Agreement

A Student Bursary Agreement reduces ambiguity by documenting payment terms, eligibility, and reporting requirements. It protects the provider’s intent, helps enforce conditions, supports audits and tax reporting, and sets clear remedies if funds are misused or obligations are unmet.
