Academic Requirements

The MBA degree requires successful completion of a minimum of credit hours, including all specified core courses and approved electives. Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least to remain in good academic standing. All core courses must be completed with a grade of B- or higher unless otherwise approved in writing by the program director.

Time limit for completion of the degree is years from initial enrollment. Extensions are granted only under documented exceptional circumstances and require formal application and approval.

Progression, Probation and Suspension

A student whose cumulative GPA falls below the minimum_gpa specified above shall be placed on academic probation. Probationary status is intended to facilitate a plan for performance improvement; it does not constitute an automatic right to continued enrollment. The academic unit will specify required remedial actions, which may include reduced course load, mandatory academic advising, or repeating specified courses.

Continued failure to meet the terms of probation may result in suspension or dismissal. Suspension decisions are discretionary and will be taken only after formal review. Students subject to recommended suspension will be notified in writing and provided with instructions for appeal.

I acknowledge that I have read and understand the progression, probation and suspension provisions described above.

Grading, Assessment and Examinations

Grades are assigned in accordance with the program grading schema. An Incomplete (I) grade is granted only when unavoidable circumstances prevent completion of course requirements and a written agreement specifying outstanding work and deadline is filed with the Registrar. Academic dishonesty, including but not limited to plagiarism, fabrication, and unauthorized collaboration, will be sanctioned in accordance with institutional procedures and may result in grade reduction, course failure, suspension, or dismissal.

Capstone / Thesis Requirement

Completion of a capstone project or thesis is a mandatory requirement for degree conferral unless an approved alternative is documented. Students must submit a formal proposal, receive supervisor approval, and meet all supervisory and submission deadlines. Failure to meet capstone requirements may delay graduation and may be subject to academic sanction.

Fees, Financial Holds and Withdrawal

Students are financially responsible for all tuition, fees and charges assessed. Financial obligations not satisfied by published deadlines may result in registration holds, which will prevent enrollment, release of transcripts, and conferment of degree. Withdrawal from the program is subject to the official withdrawal policy and may have financial and academic consequences.

Academic Integrity and Sanctions

All students are bound by the institution's academic integrity code. Proven violations of academic integrity will result in sanctions proportionate to the severity of the violation, up to and including dismissal from the program. Sanctions may be appealed pursuant to the formal appeals process outlined below.

I acknowledge that I have read and understand the academic integrity expectations and potential sanctions.

Use of Student Work and Intellectual Property

Students retain ownership of original intellectual contributions unless otherwise agreed in writing. Notwithstanding ownership, the school reserves the right to retain copies of non-confidential student work and to use such materials for teaching, accreditation and promotional purposes with proper attribution. Confidential or proprietary materials must be identified in writing and may require a separate agreement.

By initialing below, the student consents to non-confidential use of submitted work as described above:

Appeals and Grievance Procedure

Students may appeal academic decisions by filing a written notice within the prescribed timelines. Appeals must specify the grounds relied upon, include relevant supporting documentation, and follow the published procedure. Decisions on appeals are final subject to any remaining institutional review rights.

Amendments and Interpretation

These regulations may be amended from time to time by the academic authority. Amendments will be applied prospectively unless expressly stated otherwise. Any questions regarding interpretation of these regulations shall be resolved by the program director whose determination is final subject to appeal.

Acknowledgment and Consent

By signing below, I certify that I have received, read, and understand the Student MBA Regulations contained herein. I agree to comply with the requirements, policies and procedures set forth, and acknowledge that failure to comply may result in disciplinary or academic actions as described above. I further certify that the information provided on this form is true and complete to the best of my knowledge.

What the Student MBA Regulations Cover

Student MBA Regulations are the formal set of academic, administrative, and conduct rules that govern enrollment, progression, assessment, graduation eligibility, and post-graduate requirements for MBA students at a college or university. They typically define program structure, credit requirements, grading and GPA standards, course prerequisites, transfer credit policies, leave and withdrawal procedures, academic integrity expectations, appeals processes, and administrative responsibilities for students, faculty, and registrars. Institutions use these regulations to ensure consistent decision-making, compliance with accreditation standards, and transparent communication of rights and obligations.

Why clear regulations matter for MBA programs

Student MBA Regulations provide predictability and fairness by documenting requirements, timelines, and remedies; they reduce disputes, support accreditation compliance, and make academic expectations explicit for students, faculty, and administrators while clarifying consequences for noncompliance.

Why clear regulations matter for MBA programs

Who relies on the Student MBA Regulations

Departments and offices that rely on these regulations include program directors, registrars, and student affairs teams responsible for consistent administration.

  • MBA applicants and enrolled students seeking clarity on degree requirements and progression.
  • Program directors and faculty administering curricula, prerequisites, and grading policies.
  • Registrar and records staff managing enrollment, transcripts, and compliance reporting.

Clearly defined users and responsibilities reduce administrative friction and help enforce consistent outcomes across cohorts.

Primary signatories and approvers

Program Director

The Program Director typically has authority to interpret and enforce regulations within the MBA program, approve exceptions for academic progression, and sign program-level approvals. They coordinate with the registrar and academic council when waiver or curriculum changes are required.

Registrar

The Registrar maintains official records, validates student eligibility for graduation, issues transcripts, and enforces filing deadlines. The registrar's signature or certification is often required to finalize degree conferral and to validate any official amendments to a student's academic record.

Common pitfalls to avoid when preparing the regulations

  • Incomplete fields such as missing student ID or unsigned pages are common errors that cause review delays and may trigger resubmission requirements.
  • Using informal names, nicknames, or inconsistent formatting across documents leads to identity mismatches and potential processing rejections.
  • Failing to follow the institution's required date formats or omitting effective dates can change the applicability of waivers or appeals.
  • Not attaching required supporting documentation like transcripts, employer letters, or visa documents frequently results in denial or postponement of requests.

Practical examples of how regulations are applied

The following two case studies illustrate typical workflows for curriculum amendments and leave appeals under Student MBA Regulations.

Curriculum Amendment

A university updates MBA concentration requirements and issues an amended regulation to incoming and current students, detailing transition pathways and elective equivalencies.

  • Affected students choose grandfathering or new requirements.
  • The amendment included a published effective date, a one-year transition window, clear waiver criteria, and registrar certification procedures to ensure degree audits reflect either the old or new curriculum as requested.

Leave of Absence Appeal

A student requests a medical leave and appeals a denial; the regulations specify required documentation, timelines, and appeal channels.

  • Appeal lodged within 14 days with medical supporting documents.
  • The appeal panel reviewed documentation, applied published standards, granted an interim leave, and directed the registrar to note the leave on the student record while preserving eligibility for financial aid upon return.
