fruits for the entire month of january so if january so if you have not gotten yours in uh you have time to do it and we're going to get into our sermon we're with continuing on restructuring restructuring for 2021 we we we've gone through a portion of it today is going to be part three part three will be visions and planning's continued last week we did planets but we're going to re recap last week or rather we did visions but this week we're going to recap where we were what we have covered already just a little bit of a synopsis part one was decisions decisions and the first part of the decision was making decisions in advance ahead of time that's a part of temperance it's a part of self-control making decisions in advance helps you to do the right thing because you've already made the decision i made the decision to get i made the decision to get away from uh impulsive spending i told you that no more will i go into walmart to buy one item uh a t-shirt and walk out with a 130 dollar tab amen is easy to do but you make the decision in advance i made the decision before i got in my car that i will obey all the traffic laws i will not even though i may be running late even though i may be in a hurry i will not speed i will not run stop signs i will not you know i'm going to say this i remember the time when when the person was approaching uh a traffic signal and the light turned yellow he'd go you know to get on through there so it's been a few years ago excuse me but i was at the gas station and i was pumping gas and i heard this car yeah i mean it was sliding turn across industry and i looked and what happened the light turned yellow and he said i mean he instead of juicing it to get on through there he was on the ride in the break and at that time mayor daley was was mayor of chicago and i just got tickled i laughed i said mayor daley has got them stopping because he had they had installed the red light cameras so when people used to just juice it and go on through now they they hitting the brakes well in advance so but in any case uh but when you get the law of god in your heart you don't have to have a red light camera to make you stop nonetheless i will not run uh a red light praise the lord and this is a very important decision and this is a part of your decision making leave emotions out of your decision making be objective i'm going to read you the definition of objective objective is my personal feel or opinions in considering and representing facts now i'm going to read it a little bit more not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts not influenced by personal feelings personal feelings are emotion so when you when you're making the decisions you get the decision you get the facts you're not influenced by your emotions opinions opinions are your preconceived notions this is what i think this is how i feel about it but when you're dealing with facts when you're making decisions you make it based on facts not how i feel on your preconceived notions because if you do that's not objective an objective decision is made based on facts amen not what i think not how i feel and another point on the decisions is ask yourself is this the best thing to do not not so much the right thing not a good thing but you have options choose from from that list of of good options choose the best is this the best thing for me to do and part two discipline we did we did uh decisions and discipline that that was the first week so the next point is discipline and under discipline we have self-control self-control is an aspect of self-discipline it is restraint its boundaries a limitations parameters restriction is saying you restrict yourself is saying i'm going this far and no further but you have to discipline yourself to do that and another thing about discipline that discipline does compels us to do the right thing it compels us rather to do the hard thing the tough the hard to mundane it it compels us to do that because many times we're tempted to do the easy tempted to do that which is not hard uh the easy we do that first when in a lot of instances the the hard thing is the most important thing so discipline compels us to do do the right thing first the hard thing first and lastly on discipline we have stick-to-itiveness i call the stick to it and i'm not even sure that's a word but it's it kind of says what i want to say stick-to-itiveness is never giving up it's never quitting uh it doesn't matter how hard it gets how long it takes how much energy how much effort i just won't quit amen it's easy to start many people make many starts but don't finish very much it's easy to start let's make sure we finish what we start that's called stick-to-itiveness amen and last week we we covered vision vision is so critical this is so important is seeing with the heart and mind what you can't see with the eyes with the natural eye i'm going to say that again is seeing with your heart it's your imagination uh a heart and mind what you can't see with the natural life uh just just consider this you you see yourself becoming a great leader and father the one that you're destined to be you don't see that with the natural eye because that's an intangible uh but in your mind in your imagination you see it genesis 11 and 6 says and the lord said unto abraham and the lord said behold not unto abraham and the lord said this is genesis 11 6. behold the people is one and they have a they have all one language and this is the one part i want to get to this they have begun to do they began to do and now nothing will be restrained from them which they have imagined to do nothing will be restrained from them which they have imagined to do what that what they see in their imagination this is when when they were building the title of tower of babel and they had decided to build build a tower they reached up to heaven and god said if i don't do something they're going to accomplish their goal so i'm telling you uh what you see in your mind what you see in your imagination is so critical so let's make sure we put it put it to work put your imagination to work amen vision is very important god said to abraham lift up now your i lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are northward southward eastward and westward all the land which you see to you will i give it he said lift up your eyes you gotta have vision you gotta you gotta see he said look from where you are so i'm telling you look right now where from where you are whatever station in life you are look from there uh you can look and see what's available to you look in all directions and you make the decision where you want to go and go for it amen you got to see more than you can see with the natural eye and because you can't see you can't go further than you can see any further than you can see and that's not talking about with the natural light any further than you can see in your imagination amen our next point is men conceive further than women it's god's design is his intent this may not have been it very well may not have been your your experience to this this point in your life because culture and society have have pushed or propelled the role of the woman while diminishing the role of the man but our commitment is to teach the man we want to restore him to his godly position amen when you look throughout scripture you'll see that god gave the vision to man you could you can look uh throughout scripture concerning abraham abraham and sarah was right there but god spoke to abraham so but man i told you last week that as a bird one wonders from her nest so has man wandered from his place but he can find it back he can come back to his original place the place where god uh desired him to be amen so you decide what you want to accomplish that's up to you after you have uh looked from where you are and you've surveyed the land and made the decision you decide uh what you what you want to accomplish where do you want to go amen be specific i i gave the the the example last week of going to georgia but where in georgia do you want to go amen just saying georgia is not good enough or we'll probably go back to georgia figures figuratively speaking a little bit later but uh in finishing up this this on discipline where do you want to go in your spiritual life you know you know you love god you know you're living for the lord but but but somehow things have not just worked you just don't feel satisfied you're not content lord i'm not satisfied with where i am i want to do more i want to grow closer i want to i i want a better relationship with you i i want to be used by you i didn't accomplish all the things i wanted to in my spiritual life last year but i'm moving forward in jesus name i'm moving forward praise the lord said that that that is a summary of what we've covered the last last two weeks and this week now we come to uh our lesson but i want to say this if you haven't watched the services that's a little bit of what we cover but if you haven't watched the services go back and do it go back and watch them we talked about visions and goals and aims and once you've got visions goals and aims and you've decided what you want to do you've used the wisdom that we talked about you used your intellect and your imagination and you've decided the best move for you you know what direction you want to go now we come to plan you know what direction you want to go you know where you now we come to planning how do you get there praise the lord i'm going to read uh a few verses of scripture they're found in luke chapter 14 verses 28 through 30. for which of you intending to build a tower sitteth not down first and counteth the coast whether he has sufficient to finish it less happily after he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish it all that behold to begin to mock him saying this man began to build and was not able to finish which of you intending to build a tower said it's not down account that says not dying to counter the cause sits not down and and playing count up the cost and the planning cons i mean it consists of some things first you gotta decide how big do i want the how tall do i want you know i want it uh 40 feet wide and 60 feet long i want a 90 feet high and and in order to do that you got to bring in the right people you got to get planters you got to get an architect to do drawing i got to have so much foundation i got to have this much mint and i got to have these many bricks and i got to have uh laborers and and and bricklayers the thing is you got a plan if you if you just say i want to build a tower and go out and you've laid the foundation and you ran out of money that's a lack of planning so jesus said uh it's important to plan he didn't use those words but he showed it to us so planning is important planning is the process of deciding the objectives to be achieved and selecting the ways and means of achieving the pre-decided objectives it is the process planning is a process the process of deciding the objectives or the goals to be achieved deciding what you want and then is selecting the ways and means of achieving that uh ways and means is the how you decide what you want and then you decide that you want to build build a tower now you decide the ways and means to do it the ways is how we're going to get this done the means is the cost what's it going to cost me to get this done amen i told you a little bit earlier that i i i'm going to use the example of georgia again because i want you to get a picture of planning because a lot of time we said well you know i'm going to new york i'm going to memphis i'm going to colorado and we just go but make the plans to go and sometimes we make plans to go on vacation to go very various places and maybe we don't have the funds set aside for this particular purpose well you decided to go to georgia and you decided to fly you don't have the full fair right now you are going to fly and you you're not leaving tomorrow you're going to leave in four weeks so what do you have i have 175 right now and i'm gonna leave in four weeks so he started laying aside in preparation for your trip so you need to save five you need to save 56 dollars and 25 cents per week so how do i get that well i'll stay out of dunkin donuts a coffee and donuts there's about four dollars and fifty cents a day uh four dollars and fifty cents and i do that five times because i stopped there every morning on my way to work so that's 22.50 um and i make my coffee at home and and eat a slice of bread with it instead of coffee and donuts i had coffee and slighter bread you know that's that's being a little bit comical though you can do that seriously cook at home save the money save the money and and don't go out to dinner with your friends go go out to eat with your friends and now i can put into practice what i told you i'm going to do i'm going to stay away from the impulse of spending at walmart amen if i if i go to get a t-shirt i'm going to get a t-shirt now sometimes they come in packs of three so i may get three of them but i don't have to get t-shirts and a coat and two pairs of pants and gross you understand what i'm saying uh and also uh you can't you can't go to the show until you until you get back amen save your money you're making plan planning is important so you're not being in this case you're not building a tower you're going on a trip but it's the same concept it's the same principle and there are benefits to planning planning gives direction uh when you knew you were going to georgia it just gave you some direction direction you know what you're going you know what you have to do just do it amen without direction we will always be stuck in the present and going nowhere in particular because we don't have direction having direction brings purpose amen you're no longer floundering aimlessly without a sense of purpose because you have direction you're always moving because you have directions you're always moving towards something that's you see as an objective amen uh we're talking about planning planning is critical to get you to your destination to get you to where you want to go amen it's not as simple as it sounds praise god it requires time it requires effort the the direction part finding direction knowing exactly what you want what you want to do because many times we don't take the time to do it finding the right direction in life is not something that just happens you have to choose to do it you have to put in the time put in the effort to get it done amen at some point you have to stop thinking stop thinking about action and act get started praise the lord think about this do you really want to earn a degree but not not what what the major end yet start with some general education courses or do some career counseling and nothing is going to happen until you get started amen so if it's you having difficulty making making up your mind what you want to do you got to get started you know you headed in the right direction when you start taking the general education courses or maybe you want to eat more healthy but that sounds a bit a bit overwhelming to you well start somewhere start start eating less candy drinking fewer pops amen uh consuming less sugar start somewhere it's very important that you get started amen i i i'm going to tell you this because uh sometimes we're guilty of things or or we know people that have done it but what we want to do i want to put this out there so we so we'll consider before we do it so you're going to get married and you start making plans who's going to be in the bridal party how many who's the maid of honor the matron of honor the best man what colors are we wearing where are the ladies getting their dresses where are the men getting their tux where is the wedding going to be the date the time who's invited who's officiating what songs are we going to sing who's singing where's the reception going to be what's the menu we plan the the the wedding in detail at the wedding and the reception we planned that in detail as for the marriage we get married and we go on a honeymoon and we come back now real life hits you and you have no plans as to how to do life all of the effort went into planning the wedding very little into planning the marriage so uh what i want to say is don't just spend a lot of time planning the minor things the easy the easy see i told you earlier that discipline compels you to do the hard thing planning life is a lot harder than planning wedding amen so so let's uh let's let's let's use discipline another point on that under that is getting more specific helps you to plan when you know what you want that helps you to plan it's hard to make progress without clarity without clarity we lack direction it helps you to find focus and direction so just say you want to get a job me this is for me i want to i want a good job i like working with my hands and i and i like to see what i've accomplished i'm going to a trade school and learn to be a carpenter and i'll find employment with one with one of the major construction companies in chicago but it's hard to make progress without clarity i chose carpentry because it just kind of feels natural to me this kind of work is not really work for me because i like it i chose carpentry over plumbing over electrical and and other other tasks that involve working with the hands because i like building i like building structures so you you need to have some clarity not just i'm gonna get a job amen so clarity is very important planning also helps establish priorities when you know what you want but ask yourself these questions what's important to me this will help you define something what's important to me should i be doing this is this a waste of my time is this beneficial toward the accomplishment of my goals these questions allow for more efficient and better use of my time and resources asking these questions allow for more efficient use of my time and resources does this fit my gift does this fit my talents would i enjoy doing this amen so uh we don't want to we don't want to waste time we don't want to be wasteful we're in 2021 now at 2020 we look back we see what 2020 brought us and we don't want to go through that again we're moving forward in jesus name god said through the psalmist teach us to number our days so lord teach us to number our days teach us to plan teach us to be more efficient teach us to make better use of our time teach us to number our days that that that doesn't mean teach us to count our days how many days we have lived or how many days we're going to live we don't know that but it's it's saying take each one day at a time and live it to the most live it unto the lord each day dedicate it to the lord and get the most out of that day praise the lord so after you have chosen a goal this is another point after you've chosen a goal you can determine the best course of action to accomplish it and it's not until but you can determine the best course of action the best course of action to accomplish that goal you read you research you pull up all the facts after you've chosen you remember the example i gave you a couple of weeks ago how many times we make decisions based on how we felt or what we thought and later you got the real facts once you have all the facts you can make a better decision you say well if i had known that i would have made a better decision praise the lord you bought a new car and they told you you had bumper-to-bumper coverage if anything goes wrong with the car just bring it back and we'll take care of it they gave it to you in writing the the the warranty is in the glove compartment amen the the uh document is in the glove compartment of the car in six months you noticed uh you really weren't concerned about things because your car had full coverage in six months your transmission started slipping and and and um you just took it back to the to the dealer because you know you had full coverage amen he takes it in checks it out and he says the cost is going to be 1725 that's 1725 you say well i have full coverage uh i have my warranty and and he says that was good for 90 days he showed it to you in the warranty in the contract that was good now that information was was there all the time it was available to you you actually had it in your possession these facts were available but you didn't check it out you didn't pull up the facts it's so important to pull up the fact if you had known that you would have bought an extended warranty or gone to a different dealer amen we're talking about planning now this is a lack of planning i want you to pay attention to this a lack of planning according to abc news poll in january 2006 26 of those surveyed have no life insurance 50 percent do not have a will 42 percent have a living only 42 percent have a living will and a health care proxy according to yahoo finance september 2019 64 of americans will die bro i'm sorry will retire broke 64 of americans will retire broke and 48 don't care 40 of americans will rely solely on social security as their retirement income amen without goals and plans to achieve them see they have no goals but without goals and plans to achieve them you wake up you get ready you get ready every day you go to work you go to school amen we take the same route to work every day you eat the same three things for lunch every day you take the same right home after work you go to the same laundromat you go to the same grocery store you feel your car up at the same gas station you stop at the same mcdonald's without plans we go through the motions drifting through life heading nowhere it's kind of like getting on a highway and driving just driving have no destination in mind going no place in particular just driving amen we don't want to do life that way praise the lord so we see why it's so important to make life plans it puts direction into your life uh you you don't just drift through life you decide you decide you make your own plans decide what you want out of life and it'll add direction and meaning to your life which brings me to my next point seek counsel the scripture says in the multitude of counselors there is safety some decisions you don't just make on your own by yourself you seek the wisdom of others you don't don't be a lone ranger praise the lord the will has already been vented so you seek counsel ask people ask professionals ask spiritual leaders and after you've done that now that you've done that you've done your reading you've done your research you pulled up all the facts now you're ready to write it out which is my next point amen writing is a spiritual exercise writing it down makes it real and tangible now you could you could put it on your phone or on an electronic device but research has shown that writing it down putting it on paper makes it more tangible if you write it down you're up to 42 percent more likely to follow through scientists say when you write it down you're using both excuse me both parts of your brain the imaginative right hemisphere or right side and the logic based left hemisphere or left side writing it down means you can visually see it this is important because when you see something it affects how you act you're more likely to be productive if you can see it if you can see it you're more likely to do it than you are if you just think about it amen so writing it down is important god wrote the ten commandments moses could have memorized them and shared them with the children of israel but god knew it was necessary to write them he left with us his written word god left the written word with us and his word is so important that he exalted his word above his name amen the word of god so i'm going to share a few scriptures from this word we're talking about psalms 90 and 12 i read that it says so teach us the number of days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom numbering our days making the most of our days amen are taking time seriously knowing knowing the brevity of life you don't have a lot of days uh just make the most of them amen and live them for the lord and to apply our hearts unto wisdom uh the scripture says the fear of the lord beginning of wisdom now that's the beginning but we can seek wisdom scripture say if any man lacks wisdom let him ask of god he gives us wisdom amen let's seek wisdom and let's ask wisdom from other people and the most important plan you can make we're talking about planning the most important plan you can make is planning for the future now we're talking about planning for future but i'm talking about your eternal future planning for your import your eternal future is the most important decision you'll make the most important plan you'll make ephesians 5 15 says redeeming the time because the days are evil redeeming the time making the most of the time you make the most of your time you make the most of your day by getting the most out of it not being idle uh not wandering not floundering but having purpose and our purpose our purpose here is to do the will of the lord our purpose here and see it's god's will that you planned jesus already told us you know if you're gonna build a towel he told us what to do count up the cost because you don't want to you don't want to get started and not be able to finish and have people mocking you he started but he didn't finish amen and so it is with you with eternal life make the decision that i'm going to follow jesus amen i'm going to follow him regardless regardless to the cause regardless to the sacrifice because i know that in the end i have eternal life but jesus didn't just promise us eternal life he promised us life and that more abundantly that we can have abundant life here in him amen he promised us that here in the midst of this turmoil in the midst of all that's going on in our communities in our cities and in our nation in the midst of all that you can have peace you can have inner peace you can have peace that outside sources can't touch he said i give you peace amen i give you peace that that that uh the world can't take away amen so uh he come he came he has come that we might have life and then we might have it more abundantly and redeeming the time amen that's numbering our days numbering our days just making the most of each one amen so i just want to encourage you those of you that know the lord draw closer seek him the more amen seek him for all that he has for you seek him for the fullness that he has for you amen and those of you that don't know him is not hard make the decision you do have to count up the cause though and make the decision to follow jesus and know this it's not hard it's not hard to to to become a child of god to to become a follower of jesus the scripture says that if thou shall confess with thy mouth the lord jesus and shall believe in thine heart that god has raised him from the dead you shall be saved he said for with the mouth for with the heart rather man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation that's just saying if you believe you believe that jesus christ is the son of god and that god's raging from the dead and the third day according to the scriptures you believe that you confess that uh that's the beginning of your walk with god amen and you follow him to know him you get to know him better you get to know him more intimately you get to know him in fullness because he has promised us that we can have power see we can walk in the dominion and in the authority god has designed or designated or given to us amen you can walk without it and you can walk in it amen he said you shall receive power after that the holy ghost has come upon you then you'll be witnesses unto me however your first step is receiving him into your heart amen that's planning for your eternal future that's planning for the here and now and for your eternal future praise god god bless you uh we we've covered some things i hope that i hope that you've listened to them i hope you'll listen to them again because this what i'm teaching you now is not meant for your entertainment amen and honestly it's not it's not meant uh this is not meant to make you shout it's to make you think and to make you act because that's the only way you're gonna get moving that's the only way some things are going to change in your life is that you do some things differently and god has designed us to walk in in the way that he wants us to walk and he told us how to do it praise the lord so i i've been up for a while i just kind of wanted to finish planning god bless you and uh we we look forward to coming back before you next week but god bless you we love you we're going to pray lord we thank you for the word that has gone forth we thank you for the teaching that has gone forth and we pray god that hearts will be receptive that that we'll plan not just playing the easy thing playing the things that we want but plans are things that are important plan the major things in life and that we'll make plans to spend eternity with you we pray for those that that uh have not received even they received you as i was as i was quoting the scriptures that they'll receive you and follow on to know you and know that you love them more than anything that you died for them and you that you have imparted unto them eternal life amen we thank you for that we thank you for the victory we thank you for the victory and we give you praise in jesus name praise god hallelujah you
