VOTING REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS - In order to register to vote in the state of Kansas, you must meet the following requirements:  You must be a citizen of the U.S.  You must be a resident of Kansas.  You must have reached 18 years of age before the next election.  You must have received final discharge from imprisonment, parole or conditional release if convicted of a felony.  You must have abandoned your former residence and/or name.  You must complete a voter registration application form and submit it to your County Election Officer by the 15 th day before any election. You may obtain an application form as follows: o At locations established by your County Election Officer, such as banks, libraries, schools and government offices. o When you apply for a driver’s license or public assistance. o Online at http://www.kssos.org/forms/elections/voterregistration.pdf .  You must provide your Kansas driver’s license number or the last four digits of your social security number. You must indicate on your application if you do not have a Kansas driver’s license number or a social security number. If you do not provide the required number and you are voting for the first time in your county, you must send a copy of a current valid photo ID, along with your application or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government document that shows your name and address. DRIVER’S LICENSE REQUIREMENTS - You have 90 days after establishing residency in Kansas to apply for a Kansas driver’s license. To obtain a driver’s license in Kansas, you must meet the following requirements:  You must go to a full service driver’s license office, provide your social security number and present acceptable proof of identity. You must present two of the documents listed below (one document must be from list A, and the second document must be from lists A or C.) If you present a valid photo driver’s license issued by another state, you must also present a second document from list A, B or C. S. state (if expired requires additional documentation) o List B- Documentation for any other person:  Valid foreign passport with I-94 or valid "Processed for I-551" stamp  I-94 with refugee status (passport not required)  Valid I-551 INS Resident Alien/Permanent resident card  Valid I-688 (photo Temporary Resident) and I-688A, I-688B and I-766 (photo Employment Authorization)  Valid U. S. Military Identification (dependent) o List C- Proof of name:  Certified marriage certificate, U. S., city, county, state, or foreign issued  Certified divorce decree, U. S. or foreign, with official signature  Certified court order of name change, U. S. or foreign, with official signature  Common Law certificate signed by both parties and notarized  Valid U. S. Military Identification (active duty, dependent, retired, reserve and National Guard)  Bureau of Indian Affairs Tribal Identification card  Certified court order of adoption  Photo Driver's License or Identification card issued by a U.S. state (if expired, requires additional documentation)  Your license or driving privileges must not be canceled, suspended or revoked in any state.  You must pass a vision examination.  You must pay applicable fees.  If you have an out-of-state license (expired 1 year or less) you must p ass all applicable written examination(s).  If you have never been licensed or if you have an out-of-state license that is expired over 1 year, you must pass all applicable written examination(s), as well as a driving examination. V EHICLE TITLE AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS - In order to register your motor vehicle in Kansas, you must meet the following requirements:  You must take your vehicle and its title to a motor vehicle inspection station and obtain a Motor Vehicle Examination (form MVE-1).  You must then take the title, copy of the MVE-1 and proof of insurance to your County Treasurer’s Motor Vehicle Office to make application for a Kansas title and registration. (If the title is being held by your lien holder (the bank your loan is with) or if the vehicle is being leased, the lien holder or leasing company will need to fax the front and back of the title to the county treasurer's office or the motor vehicle inspection station. You will need to take the copies of the front and back of the title and the latest registration receipt from the state in which the vehicle was last registered along with the documents listed above when applying for a title and registration.)  You may show p roof of insurance by presenting the original or a copy of the insurance coverage with the name of the insurance company, the policy number, name of the insured, the effective and expiration date of the coverage and the year, make and VIN for your vehicle. If your vehicle is newly acquired and you are transferring the license plate from a vehicle you traded in or recently sold, you may use the proof of insurance from the vehicle which was traded in or recently sold. If your vehicle is newly acquired and you are not transferring a license plate, you will need a binder from your insurance agent that includes the name of the insurance company, name of the insured, the effective and expiration date of the coverage, the year, make and VIN for your vehicle, and policy number, if available.  You must pay the applicable fees and taxes.
