That is, even if we aren't evil, we could still screw things up by accident. Never under-estimate the ways in which people can get things wrong with cryptographic tools. Even though everyone and their dog has easy access to excellent implementations of cryptographic primitives, it remains remarkably easy to use those tools incorrectly. We never build our own crypto, but knowing what cryptographic constructions to use when is actually quite subtle. Rules of thumb like "ECB mode bad, CTR mode good" can bite you in the backside if you don't understand what is behind those rules of thumb.
