hi guys I hope you're doing okay I'm just gonna show you how to design an invoice online so this is part of your marketing package and it's great because you don't have to worry about not having Photoshop or illustrator you can do it rate through canva calm so here's the website canva calm forward slash create forward slash invoices we're gonna start designing an invoice so it's going to come up with a blank eight-and-a-half by eleven you can see over here that I've kind of searched previously for fashion invoices which is fine if you click up here on the little icon you can search for free so that's what we want to do and you can search by color so for example if you were searching blue for your brand you could apply and it shows free templates that you can use so I'm going to go back here and pick white for now and it's gonna go back to normal I'm gonna pick the first one here just so you can see it's an eight-and-a-half by eleven all of these are customizable so you can move these boxes around you can resize them if you click inside you can select the text it's a text editor so you can select the text click over here on the far left and here's the fonts that you can pick you can change the size of the font the color the style the alignment if it's flush left or centered right upper case adding bullets or spacing like if you want us to be spaced across the page for example we're gonna change the color so again actions performed on selection you have to select the type and then click on it let's pick pink for Amy and then any other ones that you want to change you just have to click and keep adding the color you want so while we're picking color just a note just because you can change color doesn't mean that you should necessarily change it so the goal when using this is to always look professional you want to make sure that it's legible that you're being true to your brand okay so that's an important part to remember I'm not gonna change all of these but you guys get the point the other thing you can change is the lines so again just have to click on it you can change and you can see this is the colors the colors that are in the document there's the gold the pink so I'm going to change this you can see it's changed if you want to change the length of it or the rotation of it you just have to click on it a triple click and you'll get this gray box that comes up and then you can actually resize it got a watch because if you pull too far and it gets too thick really quickly but click off of it and there's the new line if you want to rotate it you can click on it and here's the rotate button you're looking for 90 degrees obviously if you want it to be straight anything else would be an angle and then this one here the four arrows you can move it so you can move things around to make your own invoice don't go too wild because obviously these have been made by graphic designers originally so you don't want to overdo it okay so less is more right and just try it again try to keep keep your brand forefront okay so say we wanted to change the banner up here again you could change the color but you can also add photos or other elements here so if you clicked on photos for example you can type in so you can see I've done a thing for sparkles here so you could pull up an image and it will size it to the template let's try this one that looks a bit better so that looks good if you wanted to use one of your own images you can upload you just have to drag it from the desktop into the grey space here you can click the upload button here's mine so you can see I've actually made this in Photoshop and illustrator but I made it a long time ago knowing that it was going to fit into my contract so I made it so that it would be at least eight and a half inches wide and it's at high resolution so you got to remember that you can't use a two inch image and put it in here and expect the computer to stretch it it won't you can use a large image and it will resample it down or you can use an image that's the right resolution so it's got to be between 150 or 300 dpi and it's got to be at least eight and a half inches wide if you want to do that or use like I said you can use their stock versions which are big you can see these are big images when you pull it in here you can see you could do the whole background and it would resize it and if you don't want it delete it okay so that's easy to change these ones stand here these little icons and things like that you can hit delete but there's also elements that you can put in here so I'm just gonna click on it elements you can see this is pretty current because look at there's one even for coronavirus which is kind of sad in a way but I've been searching for fashion-related so scissors and thimbles and things like that thread some of them are gonna cost you money they're not worth paying a dollar 39 for an image it's just better to find free ones for now you don't even have to use anything like that you can just leave it off or if you have a picture you guys know you can take a screenshot of your logo your local or your business card and then put that image in because that's a high enough resolution it'll be a bigger image but the computer will resize it for you so you can try that so I'm going to pull this down and if I want to rotate it down here the little rotate sign like that and you can see if you're moving things around those little lines mean that things are lining up with other elements and that's always a good thing to do is to try to to keep things in line and keep things in boxes okay so I'm just gonna zoom in here so you guys can see down here at the bottom zoom all of this is customizable so for you guys like for example if you were doing pattern making or drafting or tailoring or you know you actually designed something then you can put the categories in and change all of this to suit your needs okay so they're really great that way they're customizable to print worthy one of the one of the things back here we talked about backgrounds you can change the background with an image so I'm going to zoom out here so you can see what it looks like just remember that again like just because you can change it doesn't mean you should because here's a good example excuse me where you can't see the type any longer so make sure that you take the less is more approach and try to find something that you think represents your brand don't go overboard just because it's available okay if you want to go back to white white is up here okay so there we go so the great thing is now that we're done it looks really good professional you can download it what you want to do is do their suggested file is PDF print quality you can say include the crop marks and the bleeds that's up to you you don't have to but you want to make sure that you're picking this one because you don't want to pick standard it's a small file you don't want to pick JK JPEG it's lossy compression and ping is high quality image but it's also transparency and it's really used for the web it's not really a print format so this is why it's suggested so then you just hit download and it's gonna go into your folder which is great it's not doesn't take too long there it goes I'm gonna close that and then up here word says share or you can do on the pulldown list here they have and you can hit show more they have the opportunity they give you the opportunity to upload it directly to your Google Drive or you can email it to yourself so it's pretty great like for as free software goes you know I think it's it's really worth being able to use this for your marketing project okay so that's it if you've got any questions make sure you drop me an email
