hello everyone welcome to my channel and in this video I'm going to show you how you can make your own journal using cono and sell it on Amazon KP now before you do that there are four things that you need to keep in mind and number one is how many pages your book is going to have what the dimension of your book is going to be number three is what the interior of your book is going to look like if your pages are going to be with bleed or without bleed and number four what kind of book cover your book is going to have if it's going to have a paperback a hard cover or if it's going to be an ebook now as we know Amazon has three options for book formatting that is paperback hard cover and an ebook now that we have that in mind let's go to the Amazon site on the Amazon KDP site go to tools and resources and click on it then here under help topic go to book formatting you will see the options that you have which have format your paperback format your hard cover and format your ebook we are going to be formatting a paperback click on that and then here under set trim size and margins click on set the size of your book and Mar margins and then on this page scroll down to the bottom of the page if you have time try to read the page it has a lot of information about trim sizes and about what a book with bleed and without bleed is supposed to look like etc etc today we are going to be using the page count chart this page count chart is really important because it helps you set the margins of your book ing to the number of pages that book is going to have my book is going to be a 90 page journel with bleed that means my inside margin is going to be 0.375 and my outside margin is going to be 0.375 if at all I was making a book of 200 Pages my inside margin would have been 0.5 in and the outside margin would have been 0.375 and if my book was to be with no bleed then my outside margin would have been 0.25 okay but because my book is going to be with bleed my outside margin is going to be 0.375 with that in mind let's go to conver on the conver page go to custom size and click on it then go to unit and set them 2 in and then enter the width and height of your book my journal is going to be a 6x9 and then click on create new design now that we have our page we are going to St the margin and to do so go to the ruler and pull out the guide set the margin which is supposed to be 0.3 375 well I can't get 0.375 so I'm going to stick to 0.389 which is okay because as long as the margin is bigger than the margin recommended by Amazon then there's no problem now I need to set the outside margin but I want to make it the same size like the inside margin I am going to go to element select a square drag it to the end of the page and then hold the shift key on my keyboard and reduce the size of the square to the size of the margin and then duplicate it three times to set the margin on the right the top and the bottom align one of the squares align it to page on the right the other one align it to Page at the top and the third one align it to Page at the bottom and now just get the Guide set the margin on top get another guide set the margin below and third one set the margin at the right now that I've set my margins I no longer need these squares what I'm going to do is delete them by pressing the delete button on my keyboard dragging it out of the page or pressing command X on my keyboard now that I have set my margin I'm going to add an element which is going to be a line because I would need lines on my page drag the line on top and I'm going to duplicate it 25 times because I need 25 lines on my page 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 and 25 select all click on more then click on Space evenly and then click on tidy up and then widen the lines to feel the page because your page is going to be with bed then arrange your lines on your page as desired so this is what our page looks like it's just a normal page what I'm going to do I'm going to reduce on the size of the lines and change the color of the lines to change the color I have two options I either change the color directly here or make all the lines transparent like maybe 50 or 45% transparent so to do that I'm going to select all the lines then go to color change them to gray I'm going to go to line style and reduce the line from 4 to one this is what the page looks like there's such a big difference now I'm going to add an element on my page you can do anything with your page if you want you can stop here duplicate your page into the number of pages that you need for your book or your journal or you can go ahead and add in elements and that is what I'm going to do so I go to element I'm going to select a b then drag it to the bottom of the page and then reduce the size and um this is what my page looks like and I think it looks cool so now that I'm done with my page I am going to go ahead and duplicate the page 90 times because my journal is going to have 90 Pages now I have an advice for you if you know that your pages are going to look the same from page one to the last page of your book make sure that the first page is perfect that there was no mistake on it because once you make a mistake on your first page and duplicate it let's say 100 times that means the mistake mistake is going to be repeated and to correct that mistake it's going to be so time consuming because you have to go back on all the pages correct the mistakes or you're going to delete everything and redo everything now I'm satisfied with my page so what I'm going to do is duplicate the page 90 times when you have like five or 10 pages that you've already duplicated go to grid View select all the pages then press command C and then command V that is to copy and paste now that I have the number of pages that I need for my journal I'm going to go ahead and click on share then click on download and then here where you see PNG suggested click there and then select PDF print and then and then select RGB digital use or if you have a paid subscription you can select cmk for best for professional Printing and then download it and there you go your PDF point is downloading and once it's downloaded it goes down directly to your downloaded items and that is why you can get it and upload it on Amazon KP now that the interior of our book is done we are going to make the cover so go back to Amazon under help topic go to create paperback cover and here if you don't have time to read this it doesn't matter just click here on the paragraph cover calculator and template generator and then enter your book information which is binding type paperback interior type black and white paper type white paper reading Direction left to right measurement un inches interior trim 6 by9 and then the page count is going to be 90 page click on calulate Dimension when you click on calulate Dimension Amazon is going to calulate the dimension for you then click on download template and your template is downloaded go to your downloaded items on your computer and there you will find a file that has three items in it click on it as you can see it's paperback open it and choose the first one which is the PDF open the PDF you're going to see measurements for our paperback cover which are 12.453 * 9.25 go to conver select custom size make sure that the units are in inches and then set the width which which is 12 453 and then the height is 25 Z and then select create new design and click on it now that we have our page set we are going to go to downloaded stuff copy and paste it on your page and and then widen it to Fe the whole page and then reduce the transparency to 45 that's what I do in order to be able to see what I'm really doing on my page the white part of the template is the safe Zone the pink part is the dead zone everything we're going to write on this cover is going to go in the SE zone I'm going to add a title something like a notebook drag it in the middle I'm going to add another element I think I'm just going to add a bot like I did for the interior go to element pick the bot and click on it then resize it I think I think that's fine that's um I'm going to add another title so what I'm going to do is just duplicate this title that I already have and then move it just about it transpar that's better okay I'm just going to change the words [Music] to a journal of Life a journey of Life notebook okay notebook well I think this is perfect so I want to make the book cover black so I'm going to select an element which is a square make it feel the whole page like more show layers and then send to back I'm want to add another element but to cover the spine choose another square and then make it the size of the spine because with the Amazon books you always need to cover the spine and once you finish designing your book cover delete the template and so this is our book cover but I'm going to change the color to Black and and then I'm going to change the color of these two to White I'm going to start with the element and change the color to white and now I'm going to change my spine to Black too so I'm going to click on it and then change it to Black so there it is our book cover is ready the next thing we need to do is download it so go to share click on download then PNG and then select PDF point and either select RGB or c YK and click on download once your PDF print is downloaded upload it to the Amazon site and start selling your book I hope you like my video or learned
