in this video I want to talk about how to get the products and tools you need on a budget and controlling costs in your detailing business because it's one of my favorite topics because I love talking about business in the detailing world and it's something I literally never hear any detailer talk about probably because not all detailers are running businesses a lot of people are doing it as a hobby so it's just not something they need to think about but from a business perspective one of the biggest mistakes detailers make obviously is just overp purchasing and if you have been in the detailing world for a while running a successful business you probably did overp purchase in the beginning but in this video I'm using some of these staple products that will immediately help you save money and I want to explain why how and really the thought behind using them so first thing I want to highlight here is super clean Degreaser it's something everybody talks about in the detailing world we all know what it is let me explain the thought process behind me using it how I use it and it'll lead us into a conversation about controlling costs with other products in other areas super clean Degreaser is a Degreaser obviously so it's used on really dirty areas basically I only use it on tire sidewalls wheel wells and sometimes engines okay maybe even sometimes black trim on the exterior the reason why I always keep this product diluted in a pump spray bottle is because when you are cleaning those hyper dirty areas you need a product you can dilute heavily you can use a lot of and when you use a lot of it you're not constantly criticizing yourself for how much you're using because it's an expensive product right if I'm using a $50 a gallon product on an area like like that the whole time I'm using it I'm thinking to myself how do I conserve it how do I conserve it how do I conserve it when I use super clean Degreaser because I buy it for 11 bucks or less a gallon and I dilute it I can spray as much as I want in these truck wheel wells on the tire sidewalls and I'm not thinking about it whatsoever in other words what I'm trying to say is there are areas of a detail interior and exterior where the detailer needs a product that in some sense they can waste and not think about it that is super clean for this area now moving on to another major part of the exterior detail I'm doing is of course the foam Cannon and the traditional just two bucket method or single bucket method whatever you're using to actually wash the car so the first way that I think about the product that I use here is I always think about it in terms of Versatility so in the detailing world what ends up happening is we split different parts of the detail into a bunch of like micro Parts okay so for example rather than just doing a traditional Car Wash we split it into a foam Cannon then a car wash okay so a lot of times this happens maybe even with like carpet cleaning right rather than just doing traditional carpet shampooing we have to do an enzyme treatment then we do a carpet shampoo okay so in other words part of detailing is kind of that monotonous work of like getting into the details all right that's why we use a foam Cannon first we want to make sure that we bring that surface dirt to kind of like a minimum before we start touching the paint well because of that the more that I can have a product that overlaps into more than one use okay it increases in versatility the more interested I am in purchasing that product okay so this is like something I feel like most people don't talk about but the more I've been in the detailing World which is literally the last 14 years of my life the simpler my products have gotten and I often use the same exact car soap that I did 10 years ago and really one of my favorite car soaps is Maguire's hyper wash the the reason is it's just super easy to get your hands on okay so it's always available on Amazon or even other big online retailers it is incredibly dilutable and then thirdly what a lot of people don't think about in regards to their car soap because there are so many options it's like hunting for toothpaste at the drug store right there's a thousand different options you don't know which one to pick I like a car soap that's just plain it doesn't have any additives to it it's not a wash and wax it's not a ceramic base it's just car soap it's all I need it to be I just need it to do what it's supposed to do which is clean the car that's the stage I'm working in is just the car cleaning so that's what I use I tend to use Maguire's hyper wash but there are a thousand other products you can use that are going to really give you the exact same results but I can use it in both my foam Canon and my traditional wash bucket okay it works perfectly in both of those applications so in terms of of its versatility I give it a 10 out of 10 I like to combine things like that to make my life easier and the more especially you mobile guys are doing this the more you'll probably learn to honestly just appreciate products and tools that can be used in a lot of different situations like this now I want to Circle back to super clean really quickly because that's what I'm using here on the uh lower panels here that I'm uh cleaning that you use to step up on to get inside the raised truck and you can see that I've refilled my pressurized pump sprayer so in addition to using super clean in the capacity that I described before I also keep 5 gallon premixed drums in my new detail garage of the products that I use like this most generally they're the cheaper products that I kind of waste or I use a bunch of them so I can easily refill my bottle here because I use so much of I mean you can see I'm just spraying the product everywhere right so you need in some sense as an business owner of a detailing buiness you need to just be able to have those products where you're just like this doesn't matter I can just blast the area I'm working on and I don't think about it okay and I know the the results I'm get I know it's safe I know it's going to be safe for this particular area and so no I don't use super clean on the interior bunch and all that sort of stuff but I always like to use it on those areas because it's always easiest to grab those areas really quickly and clean them really quickly just by getting what I know will work now the last product I want to highlight here is not the one I'm using in the video but it's the type of product I'm using in the video which is a dressing in my experience I found that every detailer needs a dilutable water-based dressing that they can use to dress areas like wheel wells tire sidewalls even interior surfaces if needed that they can use a lot of so for example this is a jacked up truck it's going to take a lot of dressing to dress all of these areas I don't want to be using something like Stoner more shine tire shine because it's an aerosol can I'm going to run out relatively quickly and it's relatively expensive right and so to keep my costs down I want something that I can dilute and then I want something that I can buy in kind of a gallon size and it's not all that expensive okay and so that's where I would use something like Maguire's hyperd dressing potentially something like Chemical Guys vrp right there's all these dressing to choose from but I want something water-based I want something that I can use a ton of and I want something I can dilute around like 5 to one right and that's just a really important part of the detailing process again when you're finishing a car when you're sealing a car like you see me doing here there are going to be areas where you're like hey this area is really damaged for example the wheel well and I'm not going to take a gel dressing and try to like Smooth it over and cover over the damage so it looks more uniform I just want to be able to spray something up in there let it drip dry when I walk away from it and then it look good right that's what that type of dressing is necessary for detailers okay it's a really important part of your process because you're naturally going to come come across those areas when you are doing a detail like this so guys if you want to check out those products I talked about in this video I'll hook
