I'm going to share with you vocabulary uh on how to uh read the different Call Center job ads different terms um that are used within the job ads for call centers this is important you're especially going to make a choice uh uh for the correct for the right job right for the right position or for the right call center so it's important for you to understand to to be able to understand the vocabulary understand these expressions and phrases that are commonly used um when reading call center job ads so you're able to uh choose the best uh job option for you for a call center so that's going to be our topic of discussion um I'll introduce the vocabulary then we'll read some examples of the vocabulary and then you will have a lot of time for practice for having chitchat and just conversation about the different job ads that I I'll be providing today so our goals let's go ahead and uh dive in into this uh awesome topic for tonight um so basically we're going to divide the class into uh two parts the first part is a vocabulary presentation examples and in the second part you guys will discuss um different uh Call Center job ads and share your opinions using using the vocabulary that I'm discussing our objectives for this uh for tonight are number one recognize the vocabulary used for uh Call Center job ads and um understand um the different requirements the different benefits that uh call centers offer and uh and also engage in chitchat conversation and discussions and sharing opinions about different job ad choices our topic is in terms of skills right we're talking about skills a skill is an ability something that you can learn uh through practice and through experience so um definitely uh a skill is something that you have to develop so what skills do you need for this type of job let's say right candidate says well I would say one of my strengths is computer internet skills I can work with computers and applications very well I I'm also a fast learner um do you have coding skills no but I'm in the process of learning Lear in Java so this is the skill uh coding uh programming and JavaScript and all these uh programming languages these are skills you can learn all of these things the phrase I would say the phrase I would say is just a speak a conversation filler like saying I think I guess or I believe here's an example how to use it what are the most important skills for a call center representative well I guess I would say that empathy is definitely one of the most important skills any CSR should have it's important to put yourself in the customer shoes and all also self-control is very important yes indeed let's dive into the vocabulary for call center jobs this evening I'd like to give you um an introduction on the Whiteboard so let's hop on over to our whiteboard okay let's go very good can everybody uh see the Whiteboard is it in Focus how is the sound check check check thank you ready to okay let's talk let's dive in into this topic for this evening for tonight let's do this yo what's up team today's topic is on Call Center job ads and vocabulary so today I want to talk to you about vocabulary that you need to uh to read and understand call center job ads did you know that there are different terms uh different Expressions that you that are used commonly in job uh Call Center job ads and it's very important for you to understand the these terms the vocabulary so you're able to make a great choice and choose the best job for you so let's close the gap this evening on the vocabulary and check out some vocabulary that you need well here we go let's get started we're going to talk about job ads right now add ad is short for advertisement okay so in in short we just say add a job ad a call center job ad is basically an advertisement here's how you pronounce it add advertisement next perks perks a perk p r k in other words a benefit is something that you are entitled to receive uh in the form of money uh special shifts uh perhaps uh rewards you know these type of things called Perks it's just another way of benefits did you know that call centers offer many types of perks and probably that's one of your motivations uh motivations right to to apply for a job at a call center because there are different types of perks um perhaps uh if you are a mother daycare daycare is something that you're interested in maybe night transportation if you don't possess a vehicle then some call centers offer night transportation free night transportation that would be a perk right so very interesting uh for you to know what a perk is next uh when we talk about getting hired we get hired that means we in other words we get contracted we use the cocation right get hired so you would say I got hired or I want to get hired for this uh particular position hired right for the pronunciation hired uh another interesting term that we have in in a in a usually we see this for for a call center is a hiring bonus so did you know that just you know just just because you are hired you can receive a hiring bonus you know extra money just for you know being hired you know just for signing the job offer so that's what they call a hiring bonus uh at a call center so it's just an incentive perhaps cash that you get for being hired or for being contracted for a job position so call centers are very uh very peculiar in this and they offer different types of hiring bonuses so it's important for you to find out uh if you're applying to ask hey do you guys offer a hiring bonus or how does that work okay more terms amenities amenities the amenities well the um well did you know that most people are interested in working in call centers because of the nice work environment because of the facilities uh the different installations that you have there so amenities would be all the offices all the spaces all the areas that different call centers provide let's say they provide uh rest areas um they also provide let's say play areas with different types of uh different types of uh uh you know uh comfortable um let's say different types of things that you can do like video games like pool tables so all of these things are amenities they are uh part of the building facilities right so some of these call centers offer gyms uh they offer daycare others offer even soccer courts or different types of amenities um that they offer so it's important for you to ask if there are different amenities that you can use at the call center so those are amenities the pay salary and up to so it's important for you to understand in the job app especially what's the base salary and how much sorry and how much you can earn up to in bonuses so usually um when you see a job ad here in for a call center usually you see something like let's say let's give you a number here so so you see something like 7,500 Q's right and um usually you would see the the phrase up to so what does this up to mean so that means that it's up to so you can earn up to 7,500 and perhaps the base salary is 5,000 right something like that so you can earn up to 7,500 so uh the base salary is what you would get as the as the amount of of a fixed amount that you would receive uh every month so that would be the base salary so it's important to ask if the job ad does not specify the base salary and you just see something like this then it's important for you to ask hey what's the base salary what are you offering and commonly uh what you see in in the in the job ad is are phrases like this up to so oh you can earn up to 8,000 you can earn up to Etc amount but what they're really saying is that it's um it this amount is is not the Bas salary so you need to make sure how much is it for the base salary and how much are you going to get for your bonuses so make sure to check out that PHR up to okay um well that that's in terms of the benefits now let's talk about requirements requirements there are different types of uh requirements that you uh may need to possess in order to uh work for a call center so one of them of course is your English proficiency the the term proficiency comes from expertise so some call centers they like to give a percentage to the amount of English or whatever they require so you possess let's say English proficiency of 80% English proficiency of 90% so that would be a requirement other requirements would be for you to possess something like a high school diploma for example so that could be a requirement to apply for the position or um also exper experience so perhaps the uh experience is required uh for the position so understanding the requirements for the job is is important for you so you can make the right choice uh for your selection um we have requirements which is the noun and required which would be the adjective so I would say you would use it like this so the requirements are uh 80 80% English proficiency high school diploma in experience or you can use it like this you could say uh 80% English proficiency required high school diploma required experience required okay so that's how we you would use the word required and to wrap it up here's another phrase a must when you see when you read a must that means that it is necessary it is absolutely necessary indispensable that you have uh this requirement so if you see let's say experience a must that means that it's it's necessary you are obligated to have this or high school diploma a must or uh 80 90% English um proficiency a must that means that it is uh absolutely required for you to to possess this okay guys so some terms there some vocabulary that we're going to use when reading job ads it's important for you to understand that let's uh let's go over it one more time so we have add advertisement perks get hired a hiring bonus amenities the base salary the phrase up to the amount that you can earn over here we've got requirements required and a must all right so let's go ahead and uh check out some examples on how to use this vocabulary when talking about job ads let's go to the materials all right team all right good are we cool everybody got it got it okay good yeah that's the vocabulary we be using the rest of the evening okay so let me just go over this vocabulary very quickly so you guys can can start talking about different places different call centers okay there you go all right let's begin so here are some examples a job ad so what are you doing I'm looking for a job I'm reading the job ads on the internet you can also try Facebook thanks I'll do that so um this is useful perhaps they could ask you so where did you find out about us how did you find out about us oh I saw an a job ad I saw a a job ad on Instagram I saw a job ad on on on Facebook whatever so you see this you read this job ad okay here of course we have you can say get hired or be hired you can use ver b as well so welcome to the team you're hired thank you congratulations welcome aboard right welcome aboard so you get hired you get contracted work experience so um do I need work experience for this position no you don't work experience is not required okay so some job ads for call centers might require uh customer service experience work experience um others might require sales experience and and whatnot so um it's important for you to to figure that out the the experience part sometimes it's not required the salary offer what is your salary offer well it's $1,500 monthly plus the bonuses so the base is going to be this plus the bonuses here the hiring bonus so do you offer a hiring bonus yes we do we offer 100 $ as a hiring bonus it depends right each call center has uh they have their own policies uh whether or not they offer it and how they pay it so it's important for you to ask hey do you have a hiring bonus how much is it when do I get it job requirements so what are the job requirements well you need 75% English good communication skills and computer skills do you need experience yes you do you need at least a year experience in a similar position flexible um we need a flexible person for the position because sometimes we will require you to work on the weekends oh that's fine I consider myself as flexible I can adapt quickly you know that's good all right so if you describe yourself as flexible you're a person that has a flexible schedule you know uh uh you know so there's no problem you can adapt you can adapt I can work weekends nights it doesn't matter just give me a job flexible I have a flexible schedule the salary the Bas salary what's the base salary for the position well it would be $1,800 plus the commissions for sales so that would be the base but you're always going to get that amount and the rest is just bonuses and bonuses are for awesome only awesome people get bonuses here's another term backto back backtack calls can you work back to back yes of course I can work Under Pressure not a problem great so back toback is the idea that you're going to receive a call you know one call you finish one call then another then another then another then another and this could go on for a couple of hours so working back to back um is something that that that's uh important for you to to be able to to handle right handle the pressure of working back to back um interact with customers this is very important the three ways or the three channels that we that we use to uh interact with the customer are basically three right we use the three channels the three channels that we use are voice when you talk to the customer right number two we use chat and three we use email so those are the three channels it's important this is very important to ask um perhaps you you are well if you are a shy person very shy person then perhaps The Voice is not something that is appealing to you perhaps I would recommend that if you are very shy and and all of that um then perhaps back office would be good for you something like chat or email but if not if your objective is to speak English and to interact with people in English then voice uh I would definitely recommend voice if your goal is to use your English and and to perfect it and all of that so definitely voice um and some some types of um of call centers will offer you uh to do all three or perhaps just voice and chat or a combination of of of these so it's important for you to ask also another key question that you should ask it it about the about the the the position is what type of account is it what type of account is it this is so important for you to understand so um this is important for you to understand so you need to ask these questions so how do you interact with customers is this voice is this chat is this email and what type of account is it well it could be a cell phone account right so that means troubleshooting internet uh phone settings and all that all that stuff if you like that it could be retail a retail account like uh Amazon or Walmart tracking packages helping customers with exchanges and refunds or it could be a sales account right where you have to make sales where you need to se sell uh and and and and and work in that type of field with in sales so it could be a sales account um or it could be a tourism account right perhaps if you're selling let's say uh uh let's say cruise ships uh packages or something like that so it could be a tourism account right um it could be a billing account you know or a collections account so you have to make sure to to to ask what you're going to deal with perhaps um you don't like to deal with billing like you don't like to deal with explaining bills and and uh and charges on a bill and that type of thing maybe that's not your thing uh perhaps you're more interested in in something more relaxed like tourism like selling packages or um helping customers with their packages you know uh with their packages their their their their travel packages or perhaps maybe you're okay with retail perhaps you feel like yeah I'm you know I can help customers with tracking and packages or maybe you're into technology like cell phones and all that stuff so it's important for you to make make sure that you ask how do you interact and what type of account is it so make sure to ask uh these key questions so you select the right job okay good so let's um let's recap the terms for this evening so we have number one a job ad or job advertisement be hired or get hired work experience the salary offer the hiring bonus the job requirements if you're flexible the base salary backtack calls and how do you interact with customers these are key things that you should be able to understand here's an example of a job ad okay this is an example of the job of a job ad the this company is called excellent Solutions International and this is their job ad it says here now hiring that means we're Contracting we're open to receiving uh people or workers now hiring customer service reps so this is definitely something for customer service let's check out the requirements 80% spoken and written English interaction with customers via phone email and live chat so you have to do three high school diploma required available to work on weekends so goodbye Saturday and Sunday you have to work on the weekends excellent communication skills flexible and be able to work back to back 4,300 base salary up to 6,000 with bonuses $100 hiring bonus this is awaja work atome uh agent it's important for you to understand what they're offering because there's wh uh wfh which is work from home but others are work from site right so you have to make sure that if your goal is to work from the site you have to make sure to ask is this work from home or is this work from the site or is it you know 50/50 how many days am I going to work from home how many days am I going to work from site or you know what's the deal so make sure to to ask um here must have a stable internet connection if you're going to work from home you got to make sure I believe that the minimum is 20 megabits per second the megabits per second that's the minimum internet speed that you should have um to to work properly from home also some call centers offer as a perk they offer equipment so some call centers will offer you the computer so and the headsets so that's something that you should also ask do you guys offer the equipment do you offer the headset or do I have to buy these things right so that's important and if you plan if you if your intention is to work from home then you have to have a quiet place okay you need to have a quiet place I I have known of agents that they have been fired because there's just too much background noise there's dogs barking you know children playing the television is on so it it that that wouldn't be recommended so if you plan to work from home you have to make sure to have a a space in your house where it's kind of quiet relatively quiet and so you can work and and without these noise interruptions which are not um recommended okay and finally it says here experience not necessary okay so well that's good you know some of these jobs they don't require experience so that's awesome all right guys so there you go now let's answer some questions about this job ad let's see Team let's see if you guys can help let's see okay guys so what is the name of the company what's the name of EXC soltions International okay who are they hiring who are they hiring customer service customer service rep reps right what English level is required or what is the English proficiency level 80% so you can say 80% English proficiency right 80% English proficiency got it okay and do you need experience University it's just another way of saying University degree ti do you need a college degree no it's not required no not requir just a high school diploma right okay what salary are they offering for out right it's a very popular one um also another popular call center in Guatemala is in touch in touch um very popular um InTouch has sites all over the world as well in Asia Philippines um and in Latin America in the Caribbean so that's another popular uh Place let's read the the job ads and then you guys will have a chitchat okay okay so here look at the first piece of information what does it say there retail so what does that mean you're going to work with what retain the client something like Amazon or something like Walmart yes or no yes yeah so you're going to have to tr track packages help customers with uh refunds uh in that type of thing here it says I can work blah blah blah it says here up to $500 hiring bonus up to so you have to ask so how much is it right because they say up to 500 so it's like okay whatever um 85% English level proficiency okay so that's a requirement also quick recruitment process quick recruitment means that it the the the hiring process is fast so you can apply quickly and and and talk to somebody from the HR department to help you with the process to expedite your process okay let's read the information here let's ask um Leslie can you year and and that's it okay so what if the call center offer you um extra money for transportation let's say they offer you I don't know maybe they offer you $100 for transportation money okay as a perk okay transp portation and another perk uh they have on-site daycare you know what dayare is right no like a spot well a daycare is like they have like a special area for children oh okay okay yeah so they can uh so like a nursery like a play play area with special nurses and special people that will take care of your child while you are working in your shift okay yeah so what do you think it would be amazing yeah yeah so you need to ask right do you guys have daycare you know you know that type of thing right okay cool cool cool okay now Jesse pick somebody from the team and ask them what is your opinion I would choose VI okay I knew that all right so viad tell us which of the two would you prefer let's say if you had to apply for a new job or something okay this one or this one which one would you prefer for sure the second one is three because uh the second one option offer me uh first of all a much much money and uh more perks like uh medical insurance on site and um what else I don't know but I think this is this um this account has a lot of benefit benefits um um vice versa 247 I don't see any any perks any perks I don't know why what they offered to be honest but salary is because to be honest the most important is the salary right at the end of I mean the benefits are good but if the salary is not good that's the most important uh only because of that I will definitely choose the second one maybe I will just I I will call to the first one only just know how much the salary is okay and yes out of curiosity I will I will call just to ask the definitely the the bonus the high bonus is interesting um but I'm not sure when they offer a a highing bonus in in dollars that mean that the salary is also in dollars that's a good question yeah yeah usually it the way it works is is that your your salary and the bonuses that you receive that's in the local Cur currency in your local currency so I'm sure that you would receive it in your local currency over there and the hiring bonus they it's a thing that they got here in in in in this country they they they put the dollar there like to make it like very wow attractive right okay yeah yeah yeah but I I centers in Guatemala and maybe four months ago I applied to the to the two coner but I didn't pass because my my English level is is a it's not it's not very good in but in I don't know how to say in whatever of two I would like to apply but because um any in any any oh okay any play okay any place because the and TS has the good is is one of the play is one of the call center has the place environment and I see that that they has a a good a good areas and amenities but facilities and okay but I is that is that important to you is that important to you the amenities is that important to
