Customize invoices in quickbooks online for Research and Development

hi this is tim yoder with fit small business welcome to our quickbooks online tutorial today i'm going to show you how to customize the look and feel of your invoices and other sales forms in quickbooks online if you prefer step-by-step written instructions please google fit small business quickbooks online tutorials for all 46 of our free tutorials so to get started customizing our sales forms from your dashboard let's click on the cogwheel in the upper right hand corner go to the your company column and go down to account and settings in your left menu bar of account and settings let's go to sales and the very top line there's a green button customize the look and feel click on that this brings up all of the this brings up the master uh template as well as any other templates you've already established you can have as many templates as you'd like when you create an invoice or other sales form when you get ready to email it or print it you can choose which template you wish to use so let's create a brand new template we'll go up here to new style click the drop down box and you notice you can set up different styles for your invoices estimates and sales receipts the process is the same so we'll go through doing it for an for an invoice and then you can come back and also do it for estimates and sales receipts if you have if you use those so let's click on new style and then invoice and it brings us to this screen so today we're talking about just the look and feel of the template and so we're just going to work with the design tab our future tutorials will deal with the content and emails tabs okay so the first button here is dive in with a template so you can see there's a preview on the right half of this screen that's the template that's already been established we can change that template by clicking on dive in template and here we have several to choose from so airy new airy classic modern notice the all these all have the same colors we can play with the colors uh you know in a minute um so i'm going to probably just keep it on the modern i kind of like that one choose whichever template you like next you can go down to make logo edits now here in prior lessons i've already uploaded my logo so i can choose it here so i can choose to show the logo if you want additional upload additional logos you can click the plus sign here and choose from additional logos click the plus sign again and then you can actually choose graphics off of your uh off of your hard drive if you choose okay so i've already got my logo chosen once you do that we can try other colors so here you can select different colors for your invoice so a lot of companies will have set colors and you just choose one color and it determines all of the shades of that color to go on your invoice you can use any color this down here is an html color code so if you're not happy with any of the colors shown here simply google html color codes and it'll it generally will give you a site that shows every color you can imagine you click on the color you like and it gives you the code you enter the code here so you can choose any color you like for your invoices if you're not happy with the font you can select a different font and then the last bullet is called when in doubt print it out you'll notice as you set up some of these options the title of the options might change a little bit we can click here and here you can customize your margins if you wish you can click here if you're going to print it on letterhead so that's very nice oftentimes your letterhead of course would have your address your name your logo and so if you're going to use letterhead you click that button and it takes that off of your template okay and now you are going to want to print it out before you decide uh you're done because obviously my screen here is a little bit wide and so the dimensions on the preview here are not quite correct so print it out see what it actually looks like once you're happy with everything simply click done to save your changes i'm actually instead of going to click done i'm just going to close the window because i don't want to save my changes but you of course will want to save them i'm going to exit without saving okay and your new form will will show up there and you'll have a new invoice type again you'll want to also create estimates and sales receipts and so go through the same process for each estimate and each sales receipt okay when you're done you can go back to your dashboard and that's it that's all there is to customizing the look and feel of your invoices and other sales forms and quickbooks online if you don't already have a copy of your own quickbooks online there's a link below this video you can
