Fillable invoice for IT

In the last video, you already learned how  to make an invoice template. In THIS video,   you are now going to learn how to improve  the invoice template. We’re gonna implement   red fillable fields so that you will never  forget to enter your customer’s data. We   will also insert an automatically updating  date and automatic page numbers. All these   improvements will reduce errors AND save you  time when writing your invoices in the future.   We will do everything in Microsoft Word again,  since Word has better designing options compared   to Excel. If you wanna download the templates,  simply check the video description.   So let’s get started. Before we can implement all  that stuff, we need to activate the “Developer”   tab. For that, we go to “File” > “Options” >  “Customize Ribbon” and here we now activate   the “Developer” tab. With this tab being setup, we  are now able to integrate the fillable fields. So,   in every spot which doesn’t contain fixed  content, we now insert these fields. For example,   in the “Bill to” area, we simply click in front  of the company details, go to the “Developer” tab   and click on the “Rich Text Content Control”.  Now we do that for all the other spots where   we want to have fillable fields and don’t worry  if the content shifts a bit, we will solve this   later. For the “Due Date”, we will not insert  a simple text box, but rather a date picker.   After inserting all these text fields, we can now  delete the dummy content next to the fields.   So now that the fields are implemented,  we are gonna edit them a bit and for that,   we need to activate the “Design Mode”. Once this  mode is activated, we simply click on the right   blue ribbon of one of these fields to select the  whole content. Then we color it red - change the   placeholder text - and we repeat this again for  all the other fields. So, pause the video now if   you need a bit more time. For the date picker by  the way, we can open the properties of the field   and in here we can select what kind of date format  we want to show. After we did all these changes,   we deactivate the “Design Mode” again. And by the way guys, if you like this video   so far, please hit the thumbs up button to support  me on this channel. If you feel very generous today, you can also  leave a comment and subscribe to the channel.   With that being said, let’s now implement the  automatic date for the “Invoice Date” field. For   that, we go to “Insert” > “Quick Parts” and  select “Field”. Where it says “Field Name”,   we search for the “Date” field, again select  a desired format and click on ok. Then we will   also implement automatic page numbers.  So, once we opened up the footer area,   we again insert a field, but this time we  search for the field name “Page” and insert it.   And after the slash symbol, we also insert a  field, but the one with the name “NumPages”.   If you are wondering what the difference  between these fields is, that is actually   quite simple. The first field we inserted always  shows the current page number and the second field   always shows the total number of pages. And that’s it for this video – in the next   video we will create our own custom macro,  which will ask us for the sales tax and then   calculate everything inside the invoice  table. Like that, you will never have to   do the calculation again and you can be sure  that the calculation is correct.
