hey thanksgivers and welcome to this quick video in this video i want to show you uh how to use the freelancer invoice template um for your own freelancing um career so if you want to uh to finish some freelancing gigs for example you usually need an invoice and i have i have many many students in my python freelancer course and many of them have never done it actually many of them have never completed a freelancing gig for a client and many of them i don't know how this whole business thing works so i thought okay now maybe this may be useful actually when i started out i didn't know about invoices and everything and how this works so i just i mean it took me a day or so to understand it so i thought okay i will shoot a very quick video um for for uh you if you if you want to build your own clients and i think this will become more and more important as freelancing grows as freelancing becomes more a more and more dominant way in today's marketplace to to exchange talents and goods between businesses so um if you work on upwork or fiverr so if you use a freelancing platform you usually don't need to create an invoice of course i mean you shouldn't take this as legal advice i'm not a legal adviser i'm a computer scientist i'm a coder so you cannot take it as legal advice but uh now uh disclaimer end um but usually on if you work on upwork or fiverros and so on so they create the template at the invoice so you don't need to do this but um oftentimes it's a smart business move to um to work with your freelancing client outside or to at least over time build a client base that is independent of concrete freelancing platforms so for example if you write to a to a website owner and you tell them okay you have this and that bug or this and that design issue and you offer them your services to fix this thing um if you're like become proactive in the in the client acquisition phase uh usually everything is uh so the whole um the whole service exchange is outside a freelancing platform so therefore you need to create you need to create your own invoices and uh how does it actually work yeah so you visit this page i give a link in the description below maybe you are watching this already on the on the correct page and um and you go there and i have i have like created an invoice template for you based on some some templates i found so this is you kind of see me official top template in different formats like in the google spreadsheet x excel file openoffice file pdf and jpeg and i advise you that to to just open the spreadsheet it will open in a new tab so it's the google spreadsheet um it is called invoice and now you see that you will only have reading rights here um so therefore if you um okay so let's get rid of this so therefore if you want to um create if you want to edit this of course you need to put in uh the planks and fill in the blanks you need to click um copy where is the copy field make a copy how can i make a copy here so probably if you register so if you if you are um so let's open this in another file okay if you are registered you can actually um so you need to be logged in in a google account obviously so okay and if you if you if you are logged in you can select file make a copy okay so this is how you how you can do it actually um you can also download it as an excel file or open office file yourself okay and so how does it actually work you you you offer the service to the to the company so you create an invoice you fill in the date you fill in your company and your address and your hometown and maybe your contact details uh you also fill in the details of the company for which you offer your services here and then you you also give the name to whom this invoice should be paid and this is you i mean they should pay you for your services so therefore you put you put in your name here you have you create just an invoice number it has to be a running number so you can use one two three four five for your own business or if you if you don't want to actually if this is your first service maybe don't put one in because then everybody everyone will see that this is your first first service if you are fine with this with it okay but i mean you can you can use any any invoice number basically uh it's just just just use your own running number that increases over time for example and start with any number and um then you have a project name so you give a meaningful description for your project for example fixed design bugs also or improved website design uh you give a due date so this is very important uh every project if you will start freelancing you should always have a due date because that line will just force you to um to to finish the projects on time and also it will be it will give to both peace of mind to you and your um client because because then they know okay um they can they they can plan they have some certainty that the project will be delivered and uh you also have a benchmark that you want to uh meet and uh then you put in the price so for example how many hours usually if you get you're getting beat by the project or by the hour so if you're getting bit by the project you give the project description here and uh give the quantity for example if it is one big project you would just put in one here if it is if you bill by the hour then you would write hourly work for example and you describe your work doing design work or so and you will give the quantities a number of hours and your hourly rate and the average hourly rate of a free la python freelancer is 61 so you could can put in 61 if you consider yourself average and um and then it will automatically this template will automatically calculate your price okay so you can change it and then it will automatically um um modify the price and then if you are done with it you just click uh file download pdf and then it will show you this like nice and clean pdf file that you can download and this you can send to your client as a pdf usually it's fine to send it per email for example and that's it that's already it if you have done it once or twice uh you will be very routined in this in this kind of in this invoicing clients and this will just be a very small step of your overall workflow you have to do it for each project um separately um you of course you can also um do something on a monthly basis and then just put in all the hours you have worked in this in this month with the method i have already shown you uh previously okay that's it if you want to join the
