welcome to Doc's 365 templates interactive templates for Google Docs so here's my add-on there is to you ice here you can create new documents from templates you start if you want to create a new template use explore more options let's start by creating a new document from a template you click start this will open up the main template picker so this dialog has three parts it's the sidebar so I can click on help it will guide me through how to select the template so the first thing we're gonna do is to select the template library so there are four different ones or three really this your personal templates factory templates and template set or created by community members and you can filter those four templates that you have created yourself so let's pick factory templates for now there is only one a sample so that's gonna select the template here and we click here that will load the template to the right in the preview area then I can either create a new document from this template or I can insert a copy of this template into the current document so before using this template we'll go through a little bit what the temp that can contain the template is just an ordinary Google Doc but you can use variables that control the process of when you create a new document so there are system variables date/time username those will be automatically converted to the date the time the user name when you by the template and you can have user-defined templates like this one here called my bar and this is the value here is the default value that is gonna be used if you don't supply one when you apply the template so when I say new document used in this template you will see I get a dialog here where I can enter in the values for the different variables company name my variable my bar my number is a number my date is a date and my choice is a drop down list so let's say I fill in this one this is my value pick a number here enter date choose an item and my new document is the title of the document and I say create document then the system takes the template replaces the variables with the values and creates the document I click there to open it in Google Docs and here it is the new document with the variables replaced series this is my value here is acne Corp and all the dates have been changed to create a new template document you use the sidebar that you open with this explore more options option so the sidebar here has a few sections home section is most important one and you use that one to insert new variables you can of course type in a variable I can just introduce a variable call be have a default value to be hello world that's fine but you can also get some help from the system by saying insert new variable I want the default value here I want to have a choice I want to have X Y & Z and then in C click insert and I get this variable here if your choices can have this simple version is like just showing the values ABCD here or you'd use the longer syntax with the type equals choice and then the items like that so that's how you insert a custom variable using the sidebar the sidebar also allows you to insert system variables so you click home here to close it click system variables and then you have a list of all the system variables and you can put the insertion market somewhere here and then just click there and it will insert it into the document like that so when you're ready to publish your template you go back to the home section here first you can test it with the new document from this template option it launches the picture you boy with the preview of the template then you can say new document here and you will see that you can now pick from the options here and see the default values document but let's not do that now we go to copy to template library that is the way you publish a template you can copy this template now to your personal templates folder or you can publish it to the community templates folder globally public folder so you enter your name you can enter a few search tags and then you click here if you want to see where your personal templates are they are in the docs 365 common templates folder and when you're ready to upload you just say upload here and see ok the document is then copied to that folder and it's ready to use the next time you open the template picker so now if we go back to the template picker we should have our new template listed in if I go to my personal templates here it's gonna be a temp I have a few ones this probably this new template is the one we just work done and then I can of course use it as usual so that kind of concludes this demo of Doc's 365 templates please let us know if you like it dislike it to go to the About section here and click feedback and then you can tell us what you think thank you so much
