[Music] this is hi this is Lillian with house cleaning University and in today's video we're going to be talking about getting paid for house cleaning when it comes to accepting payments you have a few options you can accept e-transfers credit cards cash or check which should you accept each client will have their own preferred method of payment so you should accept all of them I would however encourage your clients to pay by e-transfer e-transfers are one of the most straightforward forms of online payment it's also quick and gets deposited into your bank account instantly it's one of the most popular forms of payment because everybody has a bank account and internet access accepting credit cards for small business owners is easy and super affordable gone are the days of merchant accounts and paying monthly fees to a bank with services like square or stripe it's never been easier to accept credit card payments there's no monthly fees and no complicated application process there is however a transaction fees so e-transfers have been my preferred method of payment you will come across some clients that do prefer to pay by credit card getting set up a square or stripe is easy all you need is a registered business a bank account and a phone number the biggest bonus of accepting credit cards is having your clients credit card information on file and charging them for their cleaning with a click of a button at the end of their cleaning customers on a regular schedule love the convenience they come home to a clean house their credit card has been charged and they have a copy of their receipt emailed to them having their credit card information on file means you never have to chase a customer for payment if they forget to send you an e-transfer cash is also an option if you don't want your cleaners knowing how much you're charging for the house you can always ask your customers to put the payment into a sealed envelope and leave it on the counter if you want to go a step further you can have your logo printed on labels through Vistaprint and provide the envelopes with your company label on them checks are acceptable but they do take a few days to clear into your bank account a lot of seniors prefer to pay by check I wouldn't suggest accepting checks for a first time clean especially if it's a move out clean in the event that the check does bounce it'll be very difficult to collect payment if the customer decides to become a regular client you can then have them pay by check again everyone has their preferred method of payment I would encourage e-transfers but at the end of the day it makes sense to accept all forms of payment [Music]
