rainy and cold day that's one of the things i've always told everybody when it rains we get jobs when it's cold we even get jobs when accommodation of rainy and cold at the same time it gets really slow for us but today we're actually kind of busy but i wanted to talk about something i saw in the facebook discussion group which is uh the page ran by mike feeney owner of dr junk in north carolina and and what i saw on that page um was actually a discussion where uh another fellow junk removal service asked a question and that question was something that i've been seeing a lot lately about contracts with customers okay about having customers sign contracts with you for jobs and it came to kind of like what is he talking about you know now everybody does things differently everybody has agreements with their own customers on a on a daily basis when they do a job but it was interesting when i heard this discussion and i'm looking for the post right now but i think it was a fellow junk removal service jamie uh fazz or something like that asks a question he says before i do a deal with any customer i make them sign an agreement or contract or i even invoice them okay well listen i'll be honest with you when it comes to stuff like that when it comes to a 500 400 and i have to sign an agreement or i have to sign a contract it's a waste of time i'm just going to tell you something first of all 500 or 400 isn't going to make a difference in my junk removal business if i make 400 today or 500 tomorrow um signing an agreement or a contract i see it more as a tedious it's a bothersome paperwork that i just don't want to do and i think you know what i'm not going to say i think i know for a fact as a customer if i hire two junk removal services and i'm talking to one jump removal service and the first one says hey it's going to be 400 okay and then i get an instrument from someone else that says hey it's going to be 350 but uh just we're going to sign over a contract right now just sign it and send it back to us hmm i'm going to be honest with you i'm going to go with the 400 one and i'm going to tell you why the hassle it's just a hassle to sign an agreement to really get that paperwork uh psychologically what i'm thinking is like does this guy not trust me i'm gonna pay him so kind of a disrespect thing also but as you realize when you're doing and talking to these customers they're hiring us as freelancers we're actually like getting subcontracted we're picking up junk and trash we're not buying a car we're not making agreements to buy land or rent land or anything this is not like an apartment complex we're not renting something we're not buying some we're removing trash i hear this a lot on the discussion groups on facebook and i hear this i get emails about this i get text messages about this should i have my customers sign a contract or an agreement before i do the job and the question is this yes no don't do that don't hassle the customer don't play around with the customer don't bother the customer with tedious things and that's just something tedious messing around with the pricing is tedious and telling people that you've got a charge to go upstairs go downstairs go in the attic and that's tedious and then now having them sign a contract imagine this imagine you you you get the customer first you you had a hard time agreeing with a deal for the customer you had a hard time telling the customer that you're going to have to go upstairs and go downstairs and charge an extra fee and then when all this was finally done you got a paperwork okay and you tell them hey will you sign this because you're gonna pay us this much here's the paperwork yeah i don't think so first of all it's waste of time to me um i don't know how long the process is i don't know if you have copies of this contract you know and i virtually don't know how it works but i i figure you have contracts of this paper in your car or in your truck and every time you go to do an estimate or a junk removal you you go into the car and you tell the customer hey uh before we we settle on a price let's um let's sign this contract you know right when we settle on the price let's sign this contract and let's get this deal done right now before i do the junk remove which doesn't to me it doesn't make a lot of sense you know what i mean if you're going to do the job do the job for the price that you settled on but here's another thing i'm not sure if every city is as trustworthy as texas is because i tell people all the time i sign deals i get deals done at the shake of a hand of a thousand five thousand thirty thousand forty thousand dollars i shake people's hands all the time just to on deals like that so i don't know how it is in new york i don't know how to calculate how it is in california but i'll be honest with you it works for us here in texas so are other states really untrustworthy that you have to get a signed contract with your customers you have to get this deal done so they can pay you listen in texas it's a shake in my hand man okay i don't know how it is like in other places but i will tell you this making a customer sign a contract making a customer agree to a price on paperwork seems untrustworthy to pick up trash and it seems disrespectful to me uh another thing it just seems like it's tedious work on my end it's just bothersome hell i don't want to do it i don't want to waste my time doing it i'd rather be doing the junk removal at this point anyway guys with that i'm going to leave you all i hope this helps you all out as you're starting a junk removal service and you're beginning stop wasting time on things that aren't going to make you
