you first need to know the four main parties in a healthcare system and they're the following we have of course the member uh this is anyone who has a healthcare insurance it could be the primary holder or it could be the dependents in the provider side we have the health care facilities and the health professionals these are the hospitals the labs the clinics the psychiatric facilities the nursing home working for these facilities are the doctors the nurses the caregivers the medical receptionist and more the next providers on the list are the medical equipment suppliers so these are the companies that provide the medical equipment to hospitals we have here the pharmacy which supplies the medication we have the mde companies these companies provide the oxygen cpap pulse oximeter wheelchair crutches you get the point and the fourth party here is the insurance company now of course the insurance company covers the medical needs of the patient if she wants to have a consultation if she's sick and she's hospitalized she needs medication she pays a monthly fee to the insurance company and the insurance company in return will cover those bills for her fully or partially so these are the four parties in a health care system in short if you are informed that you're going to be working for a healthcare account there are three possibilities you could be working for a facility or a health professional you could be working for a medical equipment supplier or for a health insurance company depending on the patient's needs the insurance the medical supplies supply companies and the health professionals and facilities are going to talk to one another they're going to talk depending on what the patient needs sometimes the patients could also be calling one of the companies health professionals there will be less irate calls because their goal for calling is really just to get information they're usually not emotionally loaded the only downside here is if someone from the doctor's office calls and asks for information about 10 to 20 patients this could really hit your ahd or average handling time so that's a downside of it but if you want less irate calls this is probably what you want to be working for by the way when providing information about a patient's eligibility and benefits you need to be extra careful that you're providing the 100 accurate information and that's because most companies most insurance companies when you provide the wrong information about a patient's coverage they have zero tolerance policy which means that if you make a mistake if you made a mistake you're out because imagine the damage that you're gonna make if you tell a patient or a doctor that hey this patient is covered fully covered only to find out that only 50 of that bill is going to be covered so it's going to be too much drama if there's a mistake so you have to be very careful there are less irate calls but you have to pay really close attention to going to be working for the health professionals or the health healthcare facility the insurance company or the medical equipment supplier so you're going to have to prepare for those but in my next healthcare account video i'm going to be showing you a more difficult set of mock calls with emphasis on call handling so stay tuned healthcare is probably one of the most complex difficult accounts out there because first of all you're going to be memorizing a lot of information that's that's information overload plus the emotion if you're going to be talking to members that's going to be the hard part there frustration is the least of it anger grief those emotions that you'd rather not deal with on a daily basis you're gonna be absorbing them like you're a sponge and of course the third is there's usually there's a zero tolerance policy which means if you make a mistake a major mistake you're out again this is a complicated account you better prepare yourself physically mentally emotionally psychologically all leads out there you have to prepare for honestly if you have if i have to choose between a retail account and a healthcare account i would choose retail every time but
