Christmas I'm filming on Christmas Eve so wishing you all a Merry Christmas or happy holidays if you celebrate something else thank you all so much for being here I wanted to start off with some happy mail and as you can tell I have a a plethora of so I will try to put the Tim stamp here on the screen in case you're not a lover of happy mail you can go ahead and Skip ahead but in today's video what we're going to be doing is Cash stuffing our month ahead and emergency savings I'm super excited because we are going to finish up a few things that I have been working towards all year so stick around for sure for that but let's start with some happy mail um I have tried to get in to all of these I hope I at least opened them all so this is my um December membership for marleene over at snow Gardner 307 and we've got a little Happy New Year's challenge it looks like as always double-sided so we got a mini and a scratcher and then best friends are the perfect gift and we've got Georgette and Fred Jr and she's made this into a challenge and this is her Christmas card I believe so um thank you so much Marlene I have loved being a member of your channel this year so um I'll set that to the side there and our next card comes from Dany over at craftco budgets so let's check this out oh my goodness this is an amazing card merry Christmas happy New Year she must have had these made or made her made them herself sort of Merry sort of scary love that um and then we've got a challenge on the inside here for New Year's sa 40 that's awesome uh wishing you and your family a very special comes from Amber so let's see o that's a pretty card Merry Christmas and it is stacked full of goodies let me just kind of read this I'm I I'm always nervous in case people don't want me to read them so this is Amber at chasing dream budgets on Etsy and on Kofi and it sounds like she has a YouTube channel but she hasn't posted anything yet so maybe a 2025 goal for her um oh that is so sweet Amber these are the who's save 45 love that we've got Santa save 50 cash money save 55 and then we've got some Elves save 50 super cute and then we also have a couple of mini challenges so we've got kind of like a little winter scene different numbers here and then this one's a pink Christmas with just the ones so very um very nice challenges thank you so much Amber these are wonderful let me set these to the side I'm going to run out of room really exciting cuz there's a lot of um Christmas challenges in there that I can start to use for saving in 2025 all right this next one comes from okay all right friends one more and this is an order I placed with Cajun girl creates and I am super excited for this so this is what I ordered I'm not sure this is like extra goodies or something let's start with this okay again with the savagely ripping in look at this amazing book you guys let's check it out we're going to flip through and look at it together so we've got the Grinch we've got like a savings tracker that's super cool and then this is just a book filled with challenges you guys I was looking at her shop the other day and I didn't see this listed anymore so I don't know animated version super cute I'm a mean one Dear Santa I've been very good for the last week or so let's just focus on that cute got the Grinch in his heart naughty nice mean and we've got the who's and then there is the back oh there we go actually I think this is this the cover no that's the back and um but I did see here the book totals 1,500 plus so lots of savings happening there all right let's see what's in this guy I guess I probably should have started with this fun I've got a little scratcher tool and a candy cane some fun little Christmas decorations super cute and then I guess I dance cute that is so fun I love this little note oh and then we've got some Grinch money too this is so cute what oh my goodness how cute is it um it's kind of like a wood cutout you guys a very merry Holly Jolly Christmas oh thank you Nikki this is awesome I you guys I just it's hard for me to have words so thank you everybody so much for thinking of me and sending these my way I just I I can't say thank you enough truly I cannot all right let me get this out of the way and see if we still have room to take care of all the things we're going to take care of today let me make sure we're still recording all looks good there so we are going to stuff our month ahead and our emergency fund so let's go ahead and start with our month ahead like we usually do so we're going to get into this binder and if you are new to my channel I have been working on this month ahead for a while I think in my last video I said at the beginning of 2024 but I've actually hit a year of working on this in October and I started my emergency fund in 2024 but I am doing the snowball method I cash stuff $33 per paycheck towards my month ahead it's just a number that could fit in my budget I had 11 envelopes to start so each category got a very low dollar amount of $3 per per envelope each paycheck um you are going to be surprised to see how quickly that $3 per envelope really built up so we have fully funded our internet we have fully funded our subscriptions for the year and we have fully funded our home water bill so we have fully funded three categories and I'm doing mine in the snowball method so what that means is each envelope when we started got $3 once we finished internet its $3 got added to subscriptions so this one got6 at a time and then we finished with $3 per envelope once we finished this we took it six rolled it into water and water was getting nine and then each envelope we' get three now that this one's done our gas bill now gets $12 per envelope and then each envelope after gets $3 um we are going to start with our natural gas bill so um we actually only need $5 more doar to reach our $300 goal for this one I'm going to give this a count really two three four five of this money because I forgot that I was close to fully funding this I'm going to take five in the ones out and I'm going to put the $5 that we need um into here and this is going to fully fund our gas bill at $300 you guys so this one is done yay now it didn't need the full snowball normally I would stuff $12 in here but I only needed $5 which means the other $7 is now going to go into the next envelope so we're going to call this one done I'm going to grab a fully funded slip from back here um these um came from my friend Carla over at Sweet and Sassy budget she custom made these for me um I love them they're like a Vellum placeholder so I'm going to put the fully funded into gas you guys my goal for this year was to fully fund two categories and we have done four now I I have also been adding money extra money in here when I can like on Magic months I've also um completed a lot of mini savings challenges for my Monday minis to to increase what's going in here so um you know I'm finding other ways to get a little extra money towards this savings as well so that's how we were able to get you know so so many more done but four done now we are on electricity which means the snowball is going to roll to electricity so this was getting 12 it will now go to electricity and that means each paycheck when we start here it's going to get $15 at a time and then the rest will get three so you can see that snowball has went from $3 all the way up to 15 already and that's how you know your snowball gets bigger and bigger and you finish things faster and faster so um we are going to take the $7 That was supposed to go in here and the $3 that was going to go in here so this envelope is actually going to get $10 today so the snowball begins now so hopefully I'll get through all my envelopes and I math that out correctly we shall see so we got 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 nine 10 going into this one unfortunately all ones but that is okay so electricity is now the new one that we will begin to grow okay the rest of them are just going to get their $3 per envelope so our next category is cell phon so we've got three going into this one now um we have hit $100 in each of these once we hit that $100 I went ahead and pulled that money and put a placeholder in there just so we don't have quite so much money sitting around and um we can earn a little interest now on our savings and our high yield next up is our Subaru payment this is my car payment so it's getting $3 and then we have car insurance also getting $3 and I do kind of have these I probably need to re-evaluate because a lot of things have changed in the last year um but I have them ordered smallest to largest but I don't think they're quite in the order anymore next up is our debt so we're just trying to save the minimum payments on our debt you know that we would need to for the month okay and then we have our truck this is my husband's vehicle it's going to get $3 and it looks like I mathed all of that correctly which is a miracle in itself you guys all right so mortgage is going to get the last $3 which means um we have in all of our envelopes 100 5 10 15 20 1 2 3 4 24 and all of our envelopes um four fully funded electricity H is going to have a little bit more let's see what's in this one we've got 100 5 10 15 20 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 30 31 so 131 in electricity 124 in the rest so that's it you guys that right there is just proof of small amounts adding up we have four envelopes essentially kind of eliminated for building our first month ahead and we'll finish working on the other seven now so we're doing good okay month ahead that one's done our second piece of work we need to do here today is our emergency fund so at the beginning of 2024 I set a goal to add $11,000 to our current emergency fund so it sometimes can be challenging trying to find the balance between paying off debt and saving at the same time it is definitely possible you get to do it the way you want to if you if you're not interested in Saving and you want to focus 100% on debt payoff only you get to do that if you um are more interested in building savings for whatever reason I know a lot of people go through challenges financially with their job lots of different reasons and um you know might pause debt and make the minimums and kind of really beef up savings for a while you get to do that this is personal finance you get to do it your way no judgment you guys I personally like a balance of debt and savings so like I said we wanted to add $1,000 so I created this binder at the beginning of the year I had a set of challenges from spooky budgets that totaled $1,000 and we have worked through them the entire year um you can see these are all the ones we have finished we are down to our last $50 in savings and we only have two scratch off areas left so let's go ahead and scratch these two off and make sure I had enough money so I had $2 left over from last week and then I had $9 that I budgeted to hopefully complete this so let's scratch these off and make sure you know we're good so nine that one's a six and a five which is 11 which seems like good math there because I had nine and two which is 11 oh my goodness last the last time we were in here it was so hard we were $5 away from fully funding the gas on the month ahead and we were um like $9 away on the emergency fund it was hard not to go and find that money and save it for this payday but that's what we did and so today feels like a giant fat win all right let's put this money in here let's count it and make sure this adds up to our last $50 and we have 10 20 25 30 3540 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and 50 that's it you guys we officially completed this full set of challenges and saved the extra ,000 in our emergency fund now as I finished these throughout the year you guys I've um you know I unstuff them at my like when we do our monthly savings challenges and so that money that as we've been saving it has been earning interest in our account and this is going to be the last $50 we need to add and I'm going to go ahead and grab Sharpie and we'll mark off our last little spot here all right you guys there it is the Wednesday 50 is completed all challenges done for $1,000 so we met this goal in 2024 we are definitely going to continue this into 2025 I'm excited to show you guys here the new setup we'll set up the new binders um I'm excited to show you the new challenges and we're going to go over over the amount we're looking to save for next year feels so good you guys small amounts really do it so these two binders were the savings goals so my priority is debt payoff too but I like to have a balance and so I found a small way per paycheck to kind of hit some savings goals so like I said we do $33 per paycheck um and we're paid twice a month two months out of the year we get that third paycheck for the magic month but we get paid twice a month my husband and I and we put $33 per paycheck to the month ahead and then to hit the $1,000 for our emergency fund we set aside $40 which actually comes to about 1,020 but it's the number we needed to be even to get where you know we saved the Thousand based on like the challenges and stuff so not like you know that could be a large amount to some budgets um it's kind of what we could make work but in the grand scheme of things you know finding the $73 per paycheck has been amazing to see how that amount has really built to something so much bigger all right guys I'm just rambling on and on again I want to wish you a
