what is going on guys welcome to another youtube video coming at you today from my car for this intro anyway i just got done with a photo and video shoot 695 dollars to start the day pretty good got two more shoots after this i'm running home to dump some footage get some food get my 360 camera for the next shoot and yeah i want to go ahead and jump on my phone to make this intro because i got this on my mind i got a dm about it earlier today and i just thought it's a good topic to talk about whether or not you should do contracts for your real estate photography business do i do them should you do them how do you do them all of the questions so let's go [Music] so guys this is going to be the most entertaining video that you're going to watch all day this is my favorite thing to talk about ever obviously that was an extreme dose of sarcasm and this is really a video about value not entertainment so hopefully that little like video montage i just did the video that i of the house that i shot this morning uh was worth it for the entertainment purpose because the rest of this video is going to be kind of boring but i'm going to do my best to give you value and a little personality at the same time alright so i know like every other youtuber on the internet does this so i feel like i'm probably pretty obligated to do it i am not your lawyer this is not legal advice please do your own research when you are looking into the contracts and everything within your business i'm just here to deliver my experiences with you and hopefully it can help so i do not do contracts boom i know mind blown craziness i have thought about doing contracts for several years and i just have never done it and there's a lot of reasons why and i want to go over those reasons with you guys so the first reason why i don't do it is simply logistics of it it's going to be really difficult for me to do that with how many shoots i do so for contracts i would have to do a contract for every single listing every single property that i go to so if i'm doing three to four properties a day a lot of times i'm gonna have to have a contract in place signed and back to me before i go to that property so for me a lot of times and for you of course this is a very fast turnaround niche that we're in so i can get a call today that somebody wants to shoot tomorrow if i can fit it in you know i'll have the phone call the shoot and delivery all within like a two to three day period so it's very very quick and for me to be doing that getting a contract out to them signed back to me and going to the place for three to four shoots a day while i'm out doing things and then back home editing it's just a nightmare and i think a lot of people do contracts within photography you know weddings and so on because you know a lot of times there's a lot more money in it a lot more riding on it than when there is than there is within real estate so for me my typical shoot i think my average is like 375 dollars somewhere around there you know a lot of shoots are up in the 7800 range but a lot of shoots are also in 300 range so i think the average is close to 400 and for me i would rather be quick in moving and fast and you know risk losing that 400 versus uh you know the the opposite of that where i am just slowed down i have to constantly be getting out a contract i'm constantly um annoying the realtor honestly and i i just don't think for me it is super necessary to do so i would say that that is the number one reason that i don't do is because of logistics but the number two reason is that i am so focused on customer support customer service that i really you know knock on wood i really don't feel the need for it because i am always going to make sure that i'm doing everything i can to where my customer is happy with the final product so you know if they are like hey i need you to come back here because you missed a bathroom or hey can you re-edit this part of the video because my seller didn't like it you know whatever it is unless it's completely outrageous in which case i might still do it depending but um unless it's completely outrageous you know i'll just say no but for the most part i will just pretty much do whatever they need me to do and it's a very very rare thing for that to even happen uh most of the time i send off the final product they love it you know they either say they love it or they just don't say anything at all and that's it you know move on to the next listing and i feel like if you are focused on customer service you're focused on the support and making sure truly that your client is going to be happy with the end result then you know your need for contracts isn't going to be as drastic you know you don't have a whole lot of money writing on the line and you know again a lot of you guys might think i'm crazy for this and that's totally fine run your business the way you want to i just personally do not do that because of those two main reasons the very last reason that i don't do contracts is actually kind of my own cya i don't want to have a contract out there for a house that i did and maybe i changed a service now or i changed pricing now or something and you know there was a wording in that contract the way i had it before that would hold me liable for doing it the same way again um i feel like you know maybe i had my pricing a little bit cheaper then and i said in the contract like you know guaranteed for the next 12 months i don't know you know i don't have this in a contract right now i'm just saying that i want to make sure that my business is growing pretty rapidly i'm scaling it and things are changing pretty quickly and i don't want to be stuck in a situation where you know i agree to something we both sign this contract on uh you know 2021 and then in 2022 it comes back to bite me because my business is growing so those are the three main reasons that i personally do not have contracts within my business number one is going to be the speed and logistics of everything i want to make sure that it's going as quick and efficient as possible if i'm bogged down with sending off contracts constantly to all of my different clients for all of these different listings it's going to just be a nightmare number two is customer service i'm always gonna make sure that my clients are really happy with the final product if for whatever reason something goes wrong i will do everything i can to make sure that it goes right number three is going to be my own cya i'm going to make sure that i am okay for the future as i grow as i scale as things change pretty rapidly i don't want to be caught in a contract from a year ago that's going to hold me liable you know a year from now so guys those are the three main points and reasons why i do not personally use contracts within my business please let me know down below what you think about that i know some of you guys are going to be like you're crazy that's ridiculous and others are probably going to be like thank you thank god somebody else doesn't use contracts either so whether you are a or b of those
