in voicing clients not really a fun topic to talk about not really a fun part of business but we all want to get paid so in today's video I'm gonna teach you how to set up a system for you to easily invoice your clients and get paid the first rule of business is to never work without a contract and in this contract you need to outline your payment terms the second rule business is to never start working on a project without a deposit now a deposit upfront is a great way to protect yourself and protect your time now this deposit doesn't have to be huge a lot of people do 25% up front some people will do 50% and some people even do 75% up front and your client might feel uncomfortable with that depending on how much the total is if it's only $100 up front or $200 they may feel fine giving you all the money but really that deposit protects both you and your client protects them from losing all this money and you not doing anything and it means that you get some money for your work before wasting all of your time now you've got your deposit you've worked on the project you're ready to wrap up and send the client on their way don't do anything don't launch don't send the client their final files until you get all of your money whether you've done a payment plan or just two separate payments make sure you get all of your money before sending them anything that way they don't take off with the final product without paying you if you have a higher ticket item payment plans are a great way to make your clients feel more comfortable just paying you out in chunks now some people will add interest or bump up the price a little bit if they opt to do payment plans and that's totally up to you there's really no right or wrong way to do payment plans because my services are a little bit higher and because I'm booked out for about three to four months in advance payment plans really work well for me because it helps my cash flow feel really consistent there are many different ways that you can invoice your clients but what's most important is that you are protecting yourself and your time by getting a deposit up front figuring out payment plans or options for your clients that work for both you and your clients and making sure you also get the final payment before sending them on their way if you have any questions about invoicing software or how to get coins to pay I would love to hear it in the comments below if you enjoyed this video make sure to hit subscribe and share it with your friends [Music]
