Hey guys, so if you use Shopify to run your business and collect payments directly through your Shopify site, it makes sense that you'd want to be able to invoice for phone orders and other things directly through Shopify and collect payment so all your orders are in one place. In this video, I'm going to show how to use draft orders in Shopify to invoice clients and collect payments. So first, in the Shopify admin here, you go under orders and into drafts and you'd click create an order. Here you can select a customer. So So I'll click testing one and just put in some data. Some random address, whatever, that's fine. This would be your customer shipping address, billing address, that sort of thing. Just for demonstration purposes, I'm putting one in here. Then you can select either a product from your product catalog or you can add a customer. Custom item here, um, with custom pricing, whether it's taxable, if it's a physical product, what's the weight, that sort of thing. uh, based on your shipping address, you can add shipping or delivery. Um, these would be actual carrier rates, so that's super nice. Uh, you can also give them a custom rate, if you'd like. You can add discounts, uh, these can either be discounts that already exist in your store, you can add a custom one. And then estimated tax, uh, this will be calculated at checkout when they get there based on their address, you know, because it depends on local tax rates and that sort of thing. Also, a new feature in Shopify is the ability to collect payment later, what this does is it'll essentially give them reminder emails, uh, which you can set up here, and it'll ask them for payment at that point, you know, what's most typical is due on receipt, though, you know, you take a phone out or you're like, hey, I'm going to show you the invoice, they pay it, so, uhm, once you're all done with that, you can send an invoice to the customer, it'll give you a preview of what that is going out as, you can give a custom payment. subject, a custom message, allow them to apply discount codes or not when purchasing the order and send it out. This depends on the address associated with your store under settings being verified, so if it does not let you send it, just know that first you have to go under settings and make sure that your domain is verified with Shopify, and so if you need to do that, you'll need to go to your domain provider, like GoDaddy or however you paid for your domain, and add some records to verify it first. From there, you can go ahead and send out the invoice, and the customer will receive it with the payment link that takes them to Shopify checkout. that point, they're all good to go, they can go ahead and check out. I will say that draft orders are a little bit limited in that customer cannot see them when they log into their account. Also, you know, you can set up another limitation of Shopify is that you can't set up reminder emails. So, I don't know about you, but a lot of clients, they don't initiate a reminder pay the second that you send them an invoice. sometimes it's nice to send a reminder and say a day or two, three days and be like, hey, you have an open invoice, you know, either log in to view it or um you know, here's the payment link. Go ahead and pay it. Uh these are some limitations and for that. We've actually created an app that extends the functionality of draft orders in Shopify to do those things. So, if you're interested I'll leave a link in the video description below and you can check that out. Otherwise, this is how you create a draft order in Shopify and use it to invoice customers. Thank you.
