hey you guys it's Kristin and welcome back to the gold project today I am in my office actually I'm in the floor of my office to bring you a video on how I store my receipts now what you were seeing here is the left corner of my desk and this cabinet right here is where I store my receipts so if you open it up this little file right here is where I have all of my receipts stored for the year before I get into the contents of my black ion receipt file I want to take it back and I want to show you my whole system that I've used for storing receipts I actually have a process from when I get a receipt to me placing it in what I call my holding station and then finally placing it inside of this black ion file now I am standing in front of my desk this is the middle portion of my desk the left side of the desk is my section or my area and then the right side is my husband's so this is the very center these shelves over here or mine and the shelves on this right side are my husband's and in the middle is where I keep all of our files now I have a file for my kids for a file that says to file so there are things that I need to actually put in our filing cabinet then we have one for coupons and then we have this one here for receipts you can't even see it because it's so stuffed with stuff with because it's so stuffed with receipts and I need to go through them now this unit right here came from Ikea it's the IKEA I think it's Cave is--all I'll put a link below to the exact spot where you can get this but it's actually I think it's supposed to be a magazine wall file and I'm using it for file folders so and these little colorful folders here file folders came from Target so normally what happens is if go shopping or if I order something online I will bring the receipt in here and I will place it inside of this file folder here and then when it gets to where it looks like right now where there are so many receipts in here I will pull this out and I will go through them and I will follow them inside of my black ion file before I do that I like to open up this let me show you how this is organized this is how this little system is organized see I have a and b c and d e and f there's like two letters per file here so i file everything ing to the store where i purchase it so if it came from walmart it would go in the W's if it came from Target it would go in the t's so I'll do this organizing and this organizing at the same time so I will go through here periodically and I will clean out this whole system here if there is a receipt where I've purchased clothes that I've already wore them and I know I'm not gonna need the receipt then I will shred it and then once I get this entire thing cleaned out then these items here will get looked at and placed in the correct section in here now I'm going to take you through the entire process that I go through when I'm organizing receipts I'm gonna clean out this black ion file and once it is all cleaned out I'm going to take the receipts that I have sitting in this receipts file and I'm going to place them in the right section in my black ion file you okay I just got finished cleaning out my black ion file and I think I should have cleaned it out earlier because this is the sack of receipts that I need to shred because I no longer need them now my black ion file is ready for my new receipts to be placed inside of it now cleaning out this file took me ten minutes tops so I probably should have cleaned this out a long time ago but really it's in this cabinet my desk and I really didn't think about it so I'm gonna have to be more observant of my receipts and keeping them organized now the next thing I'm gonna do is I'm going to go through my stack of new receipts in my receipt file and place them organized inside of my black ion file you okay that probably took about seven minutes and I have everything now in my black ion file so this is ready to go back in my cabinet this is completely empty once again as you can see so it's ready to store more receipts when I get them and I did have a stack of receipts that I don't need anymore some some of them are for makeup that I purchased and I've already used it so I know I'm not gonna need to send it back and then some of its just some miscellaneous things so these things will be shredded as well and thrown away and this went to a ver Bradley throw that I have already used for about six months now so I no longer need it and that is all for my receipt storage and organization I hope you enjoyed seeing how I organize and store my receipts and I forgot to mention if you notice the background of this this video this portion is a little bit chaotic we are in the process of organizing our desk area so that is the mist
