[Music] hi everyone this is adriana from product school to walk you through our product manager's year in review template to access a template go to this blog post and then scroll all the way to the bottom and once you get to where it says in g suite those are our templates and you can also find our partner templates if you scroll down a bit more and our template is comprised of three tools so the 2021 overview and tracker as well as the 2022 resolutions tracker and these all work in conjunction with each other and the above blog post so if we go first to the 2021 overview to use it go to file make a copy so you can put in your own information and what this is it's really broad strokes right so what big external and internal events have happened in the past year uh maybe something happened that affected your ability to achieve your goals or changed the direction of your goals there are guiding questions feel free to modify these to suit you as well and then you can take these big events and these big accomplishments or setbacks and map them out month by month to kind of see how they interact throughout the year and then using these learnings you can start to look forward into 2022 again in in broad strokes and then if we want to get more granular let's go to the 2021 tracker so again go to file make a copy to put in your information um this first sheet is a list of categories that your goals could potentially fit into and so this is just serving as a structure of the different kind of goals you might have so these are the category titles and the these are this is a description and examples to kind of give you an idea of what we mean and then let's go to goals measure 2021. i would recommend deleting all of this these are just examples uh and you should definitely put in your own goals your own accomplishments so you've already looked back on 2021 what were your accomplishments put them here and then add the category based on this first sheet and then the metrics the metrics will depend a lot on how much you measured during 2021 so maybe you have a lot of really granular information maybe you have more of an overview whatever you have that's great put it in here put in how you're measuring how you're tracking your accomplishments from the past year some of you may have made goals at the beginning of 2021 if you did put that here and then here put the results in comparison to what your goal was what did you accomplish compared to your level setting and then notes are where you can put insights of of what you learned as well all right and then these next five sheets are related to the goals measured 2021. these again depend a lot on how much information you gathered during the past year i would recommend either deleting these sheets or modifying them to fit your needs but they're really here to show a model of how each goal can really be broken down into specific things and how you can measure each goal in different ways you can see at the top you're measuring different things based on the goal and this sheet is more of an overview of all of your accomplishments for 2021 and these are a deep dive into each of those accomplishments right and then once you have this we can go to the brainstorming resolutions for 2022 so now that you've looked back on the past year you're excited about the possibilities of what you can accomplish in 2022 you can list out everything that you might want to accomplish in the next year so your resolutions what possible goals can support this maybe a goal day if it's something specific like a marathon that you're working towards that specific date uh the category again from that first sheet and the hardest part the priority so unfortunately we can't do everything that we want to do in one year so if you had to choose a few things that were the most important for you to work towards in 2022 what would those be so let's say you you land on move laterally into a pm position improve communication skills and improve korean you're really excited about learning korean and you can take those top resolutions those top priorities and then map those into your final resolutions right so take move laterally into a pm position what are specific habits and goals that you can build throughout the year to move in that in that direction so maybe by the end of 2022 you won't be in that pm position but you can say that's okay because i did this this and this and i'm closer to that goal and the same for for the other two priorities and again the the category and then the specific metrics so maybe if you didn't have metrics from 2021 this is a great time to think about hey in 2022 what can i measure so that i have a more specific way to look back on my achievements of the past year at the end of 2022 and then based on these final resolutions of 2022 you can go to the resolutions tracker this is set in the calendar again file make a copy and here you can put in everything that you just mapped out here so take these resolutions and these specific goals and let's say we're using this use duolingo 20 minutes a day every weekday and so your resolution would be learn korean or improve korean and your goal would be use duolingo every day and then based on that you can track oh i did this today wow this week was a great week you did it every day and you can do that with each of your goals if you need more space to fit in your goals you can insert a row to fit that in and not all of your goals have to be daily right they can be monthly weekly what have you that's why there are only four slots here so you don't feel like you have to be building nine daily goals at once and you can modify this as suits your needs as well then at the end of the month you can do a review to see how many times behavior happened you can add notes to say wow i made a lot of progress on this goal i've observed that this and this helps me feel more motivated to work towards that goal or maybe hey i didn't make as much progress as i thought i would on this goal something happened in my life that set me back and that's it so you just rinse and repeat every month and if you'd like you can do quarterly or maybe just a mid-year review a kind of mini version of what we just did to check in and say how am i doing on my goals do i need to realign do i need to change my strategy do i still want to be pursuing these goals and then yeah just kind of course correct throughout the year and that's it so thank you all so much i hope this is helpful and i hope you have a
