just tell you this if you're a social media manager or a va and you have clients you need to have contracts in place if you don't let's stop right here stop everything you're doing i'm going to show you everything you need to include inside of your contracts if you're new here i'm erica your personal social media management coach and your biggest cheerleader and the owner of the agency edit an accelerator program that helps you launch and scale your own profitable agency now let's jump right into it shall we when i started my agency y'all i did not have any contract and it came to bite me in the when i tell you i was so upset when i finally figured out that i need to have a contract how did i find out because the client was not paying me but the real question is why did i keep on working and then i had the nerve to say well i could take you to court with what i did not have a contract how was i gonna take this person to court we didn't sign anything so the point is don't be like me let's let's be better okay so in your contract you're going to have clauses and these are just the different sections what i'm going to go over is just like the bare minimum okay i just need you to have something prepared so let's just start with these the first clause you want to have is your scope of work or your services this is going to be every single thing that you're going to do for that client every single month let's say you're doing it on the cart project you're going to put in there just the details of that but i want you to have every single thing you're doing for that client completely laid out everything another clause that you want to include is the client responsibilities so for example this can be that they are going to respond to you within 24 hours like if they don't respond to you maybe just maybe i might stop working because i haven't heard from you and i don't know what you want me to do next we don't need clients to sit up there and tell us well i didn't know i had to send it back to you no no no no no you knew because it was in the contract just a little sidebar another way that you can make sure that your clients know their responsibilities is inside of your welcome package so inside of my agency edit accelerator for social media managers i do give my students a template for a welcome guide that you just have to fill in your details and send off to the client because not only is it professional but it lets them understand what what you expect from them every single month like if i give you content on mondays by wednesday i need all your changes on all your revisions so client responsibilities is very very important and it's also very professional and it's one of those things that helps your agency just run real smooth the next thing you want to add in there is your payment and detail this we love this one we need this one your payment details is going to include a few things for example how much is this retainer or how much is this service what date are you getting paid every single month what day is it considered late when it's late are you gonna put on like a percentage like after a certain amount of days there's gonna be a five percent increase every single day there's a lot of things to consider there right but these are the things you need to include in your contract you also want to put a clause in your contract about the term how long are you going to be working with this client so i always recommend that you do at least 90 days aka three months you deserve that much time to get client results so that's why i don't agree with doing like a 30-day term because what are you supposed to find out in 30 days like i'm still doing a whole lot of testing i haven't even i ain't even got good up in there yet you know either way just make sure that inside of your contract your client knows the start date and the end date for this particular project you want to have a clause about the termination of services can the client call you today and say hey tomorrow i'm done we don't need to work anymore or are you like no i need a 30-day notice because like the worst thing that can happen is you wake up and your client is just like i'm out and now you're not getting paid nothing is happening we don't want to do that and at the very bottom you're going to have signature in dates you need to have somebody sign this okay this isn't just for us of course yes we're gonna sign it and date it but you need to have your client sign and date and acknowledge that they've read it sometimes what we'll do is in a contract you may have a clause about the termination process right and you want to make sure that they understand that very clear so you'll have them initial in just that section too just to make sure that they know ain't no questions okay you you said you saw it because you signed next to it again having a contract is going to be vital for your agency because you don't want to get caught in a situation where you're not being paid or the client is acting like well i didn't know you wanted me to do this i didn't know i had to do that whatever the case is you need to have a solid contract in
