Freight forting Mike works with our customers and their Partners to make sure UPS has the right level of support to ship their faith with ease Mike holds a massive business administration with a focus on entrepreneurship from Clemson University go Tigers not the LSU Tigers but there're still a Tigers the real ones keeping us energized and rolling along we have the John Burnham who is the senior product digital manager supporting us supporting the UPS foring hub John L's finding solutions to customer needs through the use of technology or product development John holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in marketing from the Georgia State University for legal purposes I'm going to read the following message verbatim and then we'll be ready to start today's great content this presentation is for informational purposes only it does not constitute legal advice please consult with your own legal counsel for such advice do not rely on this information without performing your own research with that said let's take a look at today's agenda first up Mike is going to walk us through the top five things to know before you book a North American Air freas shipment followed by John who will take us through a live interactive demonstration of the UPS foring hub including how to book a North American Air Freight shipment from start to finish including out got flow how to fill out paperwork tracking and getting support we will then answer any questions you may have live on the call I will now hand it over to Michael to present to you all the top five things to know with North American Air fre shipments Mike hey thanks Ron I appreciate it so I'm gonna be talking us through the five considerations when you're considering a shipping provider and I think that this this question is the main question that you have to answer what's important to your business so when you when you're conducting your business you have a promise to your customer and you got to think about the value of your good so when we think about the value of your good high value shipments that have a priority um it's important that you think about that value and how it relates to risk uh you examine the implications of the delivery schedule on your go to market strategy and how those two things connect how is your provider treating your goods in relationship to security protecting your goods and making sure that it stays safeguarded from any type of impact really builds peace of mind to your business and the way that you do that is by seeing it all along the journey and that leads me to my fourth point which is visibility you want a partner who's going to provide you full visibility and transparency throughout the shipment life cycle this is a crucial part for you not only to understand what your provider's responsibility is to you but their promise that they're making in order to be able to deliver to your customer and the last one which we're going to talk to is urgency speed and flexibility are critical for timely Freight shipments so when you're thinking about a provider you have to think about how fast it's going to get to them and whether that's going to help keep your business is Promised or whether or not that's going to detract from your overall brand experience so I want to start by working through these Five Points a little bit more in detail and what I'm going to do is I'm going to start with five because if you've never heard of um a couple products that are in the portfolio that you could use we want to talk you through those and we'll talk we'll start by talking about the most common shipment that people do so business needs to drive decision making and you really have to understand the cost and time equip in order to make sure you're making the right choice for your business so we're going to start the bottom right hand corner of this metric and if you're moving Goods around North America or if you're trying to get Goods to your customers this is the one that you hear most frequently LTL which means less than truckload this is non- urgent Freight it's usually a costeffective solution it usually has the longest time in transit in order to be able to serve your customer and it's one of the things that uh if you're doing business with customers is a very use now we're going to kind of move up the Matrix and we're going to talk about three day freay this is less urgent but it has to get to your product to your product on time so I used to work in Florida and if you're familiar with the area of Florida it's a peninsula you if you're going all the way to Oregon and you have to service your customer all the way on the other side of the country you want to be able to move that Freight in a timely fashion and that's whenever people start being introduced into this 3-day Freight Network it's mostly a truck network but it can include air whenever it's necessary so that's your first crossover Point into air so now let's talk about Air Freight shippens and this is two-way two-day air so two-day product is a Time definite product and it's really trying to balance that kind of that tipping scale of cost and speed you got to get it there fast but you want to have some control over your cost so it's a budget conscious um the other thing that I'll tell you about and I just want to go back to the first bullet point that we talked about which is high value Goods when you start seeing two two-day air you're starting to see a higher value good commodity that has more of a timeliness to it and that leads me into the highest fastest right and if you think about as we're moving up this Matrix the highest fastest way that you can move it is next day airframe now I will tell you with Next Day Air Freight you have to have fast and secure delivery but all of these things have to be supported by a network and if you think about the network that you're choosing with a provider they have to have some type of nimble flexibility to meet all your customers expectations so if you're going to do business with any any carrier you need to understand their Network and this happens to be our Network so I want to I want to talk about what you're seeing here on screen what you're seeing is is really a a difference between a hub and a Spoke system in which we actually move good to all of the US uh we have this really Nimble uh extensive network that helps balance your speed security and your visibility but having the right combination of trucks and planes in order to be able to service your customer is really about making that promise real for your customer so when we talk about North America we have to look at um the first place people take their businesses whenever they expand out of the US or out of this other country which about to lead to which is Canada um when you think about Canada you have to be able to deliver your promise there too and you have to have a partner who can cross who can keep that B that promise across the border to our partners to the north if you're a Us customer this tends to be our one of the main export Lanes this is where most people expand first and if you're a Canadian customer it usually goes the other way where people bring Goods into the us but you have to have a place in which to land your product and if you think about it we work out a seven intern national airports with 88 flights a day getting your goods there is the promise that your provider has to keep so let's go ahead and jump forward and we're going to talk now a little bit about more of the value part of the equation and this has to do with value and risk and just to kind of back up we're talking about what to look for whenever you are working with a provider and this is a key piece keep your Freight undamaged all the way through the supply chain it has to help you run a smooth and efficient supply chain so when you think about it minimal handling every time somebody touches your Freight there's a risk associated with that Freight and that risk is um I've been in this industry right about 20 years now I've seen everything from people who might have driven something through it you want less touch points and that's what you want to focus on is what's the touch Point Network look like because that every time it's touched has a chance of being broken you want train Personnel people who specialize in handling high value shipments they support prevention of loss you want advanced technology you remember on that fourth bullet point that we talked about we talked about visibility you want a safe and efficient loading process that is able to support your entire system you want an extensive network something that's going to handle your promise from door Todo through a comprehensive Network ours happens to be an independently owned Network that we actually manage and then I want to focus on this last piece because this is this is the one that we talk about with your with your goods high value Goods you need a a network that allows you less cargo claims so let me give you some comparison if you look at the LTL industry the average in the LTL industry is one claim in every 126 touches and you compare that to what we do in our Network and we sit about at one claim every 3,200 touches so when you're looking at a provider this is a piece of information you need to ask them is is how safe and secure is my product whenever I tender it to you so I want to talk a little bit about our ups approach and how we manage this system if you're brand new to Air Freight I think it's a good introduction of how we keep your Freight safe and secure so the Safety and Security is Paramount to us so our first is prevention and DET and deterrence what we're doing is we're doing a threat and risk analysis at every physical touch point along our journey if something does get damaged whenever it's moving through the process we want to be able to identify the root cause and conduct an analysis and train our people on preventing it we also because we're working in a combined Network that utilizes both ground and air we have to think about being compliant with local regulations and Air Freight res regulations which is leads you to that TSA compliant facility and Personnel so we do extensive security protocols with all of our Personnel we want to make sure they're not only trained to handle your Freight but they're also safe to be able to Tender it to and from an airline so we've talked about our five bullet points whenever you're thinking about um how to move your Freight around North America we touched on basically what's the value of your goods what's the risk and a how you handle those risk some strategies to look for in a provider and the invisibility and how we actually move into the air Network what I want to do is I want to back up a little bit and I want to invite one of my partners to the discussion because over my career I've had a fortunate of I've been fortunate to work with thousands of customers directly but I am not the expert on North American Afra product I'm bringing Ron in and Ron I just want to start with this one question um other than go Tigers I'm G to start with go Tigers because you rolled it in there then the other part that I'm going to ask is how long have you been in the North American Air Freight industry well yes go Tigers and I have been part of the UPS Air Freight for over nine years I began in product pricing and transition over to product marketing and has been a rewarding mix for me that's because North American Air Freight or nap as we call it is such a great product our experience in transporting heavyweight Air Freight allows us to provide Optimum reliability reliability through our Network ontime Freight delivery and flexible Solutions we deliver value that is critical to our customers business needs we understand that our our assignment is to deliver Freight where it needs to be when it needs to be there and alleviate the risk of damaged cargo for our customers that way we are not only serving our customers but we're also serving our customers customer so let me ask you Ron we've went through a lot of of discussion on uh LTL all the way through next day but you know next day has this really high cost and it also has this fast turnaround time right can you kind of talk us through a little bit of the customers that you've seen why they use next day over any other product yeah happy to customers who use our next day service do so because they have cargo that urgently has to move from point A and get delivered to point B our next customer customers demand speed but they also require reliability visibility and security map's next day service encompasses these benefits some examples are as you said high value high risk cargo but then also there's medical equipment parts to alleviate down downtime in manufacturing plants uh aircraft and truck engines or auto parts that are needed at dealerships huh so how does that I guess when you jump in the two day product what do you see as being different in that product or what industries use that product more well first let me say this customers who use our two-day service can expect the same level of benefits as any customer using our one-day service these customers opt for the second day service because they may have different time requirements although it's urgent it may not have to arrive next day sometimes for customers it's just a more a more cost effective solution customers using our second day service are also customers from those same industries that utilize our one day service Aerospace automobile healthc care industrial manufacturing and even high-tech sometimes in efficient supply chain Planning by customer allows us to use two day to better solution or it's a better option than one day for example if a manufacturing plant knows there's a scheduled maintenance planned on a certain date they can schedule delivery of replacement parts using now today service for certain equipment or Machinery to avoid unnecessary downtime at the end of the day regardless of it's one day or two day it comes down to being able to be on time reliable visibility through our Network and managing the customers Freight claims risk that's great so Ron I want to say thanks for uh indulging me with a couple customer examples of how they use the air freight industry we've spent a lot of talk time talking about um our customers business needs and really our focus on this has been a lot of dialogue around um why you choose a provider how what network you might want to plug into and what we want to do is now transition to John who's going to show us a little bit about how to actually see that and to make good business choices using the UPS foring up so John I'm gonna pass the Baton to you thanks so much thanks Michael and thank you all for watching in for the opportunity to show you the UPS boing Hub I'll walk through signing in requesting a quote booking a quote shipment documents shipment alerts and tracking uh lenise is going to put a link to the UPS boarding Hub in the chat if you want to follow along and uh let's Jump Right In uh bear with me while I go ahead share my screen all right just a uh sanity check here Mike you seeing the screen okay yep can see it just fine John thank you if let me move this if you already have a login to ups.com you can use it in the UPS forwarding Hub otherwise click sign up button to set up your login I'm going to go ahead and move in where I'm signed in if you don't have an account with us I highly recommend you complete the steps to personalize your account setup and request a new account so that you can easily access access that when requesting a quote and it'll help to autop populate information further in the booking process now let's request a quote by clicking quote on the left hand side if it's your first time going through the UPS foring hub I would suggest using the guided experience um which I'll use for this conversation you can see it on the right hand side and toggle it on and off since we're talking about North American Air Freight I'm going to select GTO quote for Air Freight however I like to call to your attention the other modes we have available as well as the option to get a quote for all modes the first step to get a quote is to tell us the route in which the cargo is originating and the destination I'll click to enter a location and for this conversation I'm going to say alfaretta Georgia United States as my origin by default we ask if you expect UPS to pick up the cargo however if you're dropping the cargo off with us you can select the airport service center option also if you have an account that matches the location you'll see an option to use that account in the quote and the same goes for Destination so I'm going to say yes I want to use my account at origin and I'll go ahead and enter destination and for that location I'm going to use 90303 in California Englewood I'll hit continue to get to the Second Step the second step to get a quote is to tell us the payment terms or how your invoice will be paid we have three quick options at the top with being that prepaid is the shipper will pay collect being that the consigny over receiver will pay and third party that the payer is different than the shipper or consigny so I'm going to go ahead with Prepaid and hit continue that takes us to the third step in getting a quote and this is where you going to describe your cargo you can search for the commodity that best describes your cargo or if you can't find a one that fits I recommend using Freight of all kind or also known as FK Ron was talking about medical devices in the coffee chat so for this conversation I'll go ahead and use medical devices when you're moving within the Naf Network the cargo value is optional and the default Dimensions will be pounds and inches but that can easily be changed to kilograms and centimeters if if you do put a cargo value you will see a valuation charge in the quote for cargo uh protection and for this conversation I'm going to say we're moving one pallet that's 400 PBS and it's 40 inches by 40 inches by 40 inches I'm going to now click continue to go to the last step in getting a quote this is where you going to confirm if the cargo is hazardous or needs temper temperature control and uh for this conversation I'm going to say it's General cargo confirm that no special handling is required and click submit to uh request the quote our system will then show crunching and numbers while get your quote and during this time I like to call your attention to our need help widget at the bottom right hand side of the screen if you're ever stuck on a step or unsure what to do I highly recommend clicking this need help option to access an abundant amount of information and resources that can help you through any page in the UPS boarding Hub and as you can see behind we've got our right options I recommend saving the quote uh even if you're not sure about booking that way it saved in your activity feed not in this example there are non- guaranteed and guaranteed service options available I'm going to go ahead and move to booking this 3-day non-gear options but as you can see below we've got second day and next day as was discussed earlier in this webinar so let's let's book during the booking process it is best to provide as much detail as possible especially the contact information at origin and destination for our operators to coordinate with those contacts after putting in the shipper and consigning information we're going to go to a page with charges so bear with me as I answer some the questions on step one uh for the origin information step two for Destination and step three for looking and reviewing the charges I'm going to say this is not a residential address and that there is a loading dock available and that the cargo is ready today you can uh indicate if you need a call before the shipper uh before uh to call the shipper before arrival and you can add in comments uh maybe special instructions uh for the shipper and our operations team for the Shipp or contact information I've done this a couple times and as you go through it uh you you can automatically save contacts to your address book so for this conversation I'm going to go ahead and select one I've used in the past and it's quickly populated with the name phone number and email address same thing for oh sorry I didn't put my country codes same thing for step two it's going to ask who is the contact at destination but in addition to that since I didn't use an account it's going to ask what that company needs to be I'm gonna say tigers as they were mentioned a lot and one two three tiger Street same questions is it a residential address I'll say no and that there is a loading dock available consigning contact same thing as with a shipper contact you can pull from your address book which I'll do for this example and indicate again the country code and then move to the last step of the booking process on this last step this gives you the ability to review the charges that are in front of you and um as well as the terms and conditions beneath it uh Sheamus plug here uh if it's your first time going through you will see this option to to uh sign up for our supply chains and solutions newsletters webinars industry news um so this selection will be available in the booking process uh but if I want to proceed with this booking you'll need to check the box that you approve the charges understand that you're subject to change based on the disclaimer that's above and I can go right into uh submitting that booking after your booking is submitted you'll be taken to a screen uh to sign up for shipment alerts as the shipment moves through the network to delivery you can print a label and you can manage the shipment documents we're going to go to manage shipment documents and as my screen's catching up I'm G to make sure that I highlight what I just mentioned so there ship uh setting up shipment alerts there's the printing the shipment label and manage documents and you can see above that here's your shipment number the service the origin destination that's going to and you can also download PDF for the booking request confirmation and the charges so as I mentioned let's go to manage documents so for the purpose of this conversation I'm GNA walk you through how you can create an airway bill online that will go directly to our operations team for your shipment if you're used to filling out an air a bill of leting the airway bill serves the same purpose so let's go ahead and complete online and as you can see it's already uh 99% complete with the information keyed in before so you've got the information for the shipper the consign the service shipment details method of payment and terms and conditions within the the airway belt I'm going to say agree and move to optional information where you can enter more information around the shipper more information around the consign or shipment details or handling instructions once that all looks good and as you go and fill out this information you'll see guided tips along the way to help you complete the uh each step once all this information looks good I'm going to click sign and upload document which will take me to docy sign and at that point it's simply a matter of uh clicking the sign putting in your title and then uh submitting it back into the system so uh bear with me here a couple seconds while I do that this is how the document looks all the information is populated and in that bottom right hand side it's clicking to sign and now I'll finish and I'll be taken back into the UPS forwarding Hub with that document completed signed and sent into operations team so they can pick up uh from there and it can seamlessly work through uh the process to delivery so at that point you'll be taken back to your document if you're crossing a border you will need a commercial invoice which you can download a PDF template and upload and you have an option to upload a packing list as well now let's go back to the dashboard to see how that activity that we just did is represented on the overvie on the overview you can see not only the shipments that you booked but also the status at a quick clamp this has been requested as soon as it's picked up you'll see pickup and it'll move through the process in the status update going into our activity feed you can see the same information but with more detail around the recent activity in addition to the option to click C into more details download a copy of the quote setting up shipment alerts if you didn't earlier to receive alerts and I'll go into that page right now re receive alerts when the shipment is picked up again arrived Alpha Delivery and delivered you can also track your shipment by clicking track on the left hand side of the screen to see the latest status and information as you see that online booking request that I put in is here and um ready to be tracked throughout to recap we went through requesting a quote booking a quote shipment documents shipment alerts and tracking I'll now pass it back to Ron for Q&A and again appreciate the time thank you John and we have a question that came through on the Q&A that I I think Mike is anxious to answer it's from Christian isus how can you walk me through your chain of cust custody Solutions UPS offers yeah Christian thanks for the question first off if you want us to answer other questions please feel free to use the Q&A we're going to be answering them as we go um it's going to be based on your business needs and I I like to start all my interactions with customers about talking about their business needs so what is it specifically you're looking for your provider to do and to illustrate what I mean what I'm going to do is I'm going to talk about a Hightech company who we engage with so when you look at our Network there's usually if you remember the the the Hub and spoke system that you saw earlier at every one of those touch points this high-tech customer came to us and said here's what we want you to do we want you to um take pictures of our Cargo in transit at every time it loads and unloads and not only do we want you to take pictures on all the sides we want the pictures from the top we want the pictures from the bottom and we want to be able to see those pictures all the way through that Journey so that's a highly customized solution that we provided this high-tech customer so I think that the biggest piece about your question is what kind of chain of custody that um is what kind of chain of custody are you looking for and then whether or not your provider can meet those requirements and I think that's a really honest conversation that we have to have about what you're looking for and then whether or not our Network would be supportive of that we can connect you with somebody who could have that conversation with you but it's a great question and I think that as as you're looking at providers you should have that discussion about what does the chain of custody look like and what does it mean to me as a customer right and I I gotta say um we're flexible to and we can try to figure out a solution that will work with you thank you Michael I'm going to give this next question that's very challenging to John the question is is quoting different for oversized loads uh that is a great question uh yes it can be uh so as you can imagine if a Cargoes too big to fit on a plane but it's it's uh it's a good enough size to fit on a truck that you may see the um uh certain options within the UPS sporting Hub uh and if it's it's very large that you may be presented with a form to complete a custom quote that our team will help to guide you through and uh customize that quote so it best fits your needs and also best fits in our Network so yes it can be uh I appreciate the question thank you John um I'm also going to stick with you again another challenge if you have an account attached sorry if you an account attached with your negotiated rates will they automatically pull in yes yes so this is why we highly recommend that you are either requesting account set up or if you have an account that you link that account within the UPS fling Hub so that if you have um a pricing agreement with us you're able to see those rates within the system another great question awesome uh Michael another question for you you do un3480 lithium ion batteries take longer to quote um so okay so you you're putting me on the spot because I think un3480 is is lithium batteries that are traveling independent of equipment right so I think 3481 is dependent in equipment and the answer is if you're moving batteries by themselves yes it takes longer to quote particularly whenever you're moving in the air freight Network I'm going to expand a little bit on this um earlier we discussed this LTL versus Air Freight discussion and we did this cost Matrix well one thing that you need to know about that transition is that if you're used to moving LTL there's different requirements whenever you're moving into Air Freight so globally LTL is typically managed by the Department of Transportation in the US most countries have something similar they operate underneath something called CFR 49 and CFR 49 governs that so if you're used to it when you bring lithium ion batteries into the air freight Market you're not just having the risk of it traveling over a road where you can actually stop and get handle that issue this is a plane so when you go into a plane it does take a little bit longer our goal is to get that type of stuff sourced back to you within 24 hours um when you're using the UPS foring hub so you can request on the UPS forwarding Hub we're going to tell you pretty much we're going to get an analyst to work on it and then we're going to get it back to you within a day that's her goal uh for for my next question and thank you for the answer Michael I really appreciate I'm sure the audience is uh enjoying that answer as well um if the commercial invoice is uploaded will a paper copy need to be included with the shipment if both of you guys can give that that answer or response that the question um my answer answer is yes the uh it's a very simple thing so let me explain and you're you're moving Goods the commercial invoice is your bill of sale so when I think of a commercial invoice it's the bill of sale between the seller and the buyer um why do you upload it and that's that's probably a good question that we answer too uh I'm not saying anybody has ever lost paper um but honestly if you ask my wife I don't know I can find my car keys without her so I will say that there's a possibility that your goods in your commercial invoice is separated you uploading it into our technology system helps resolve that without having getting you involved so if the cargo AR at its destination and that and particularly when you're crossing a border um having a digital copy is a backup system to a traditional move John would you add anything to that I thought that was perfect um especially the piece about your you needing your wife to find your keys uh yeah yeah she'll remind me about it later it's good it's good I can relate to that one as well um either one of you guys you want to take this one will you receive an alert if any exceptions occur with the shipment very good question uh so as I was showing the tracking page uh on our tracking page we will show if there are exceptions from origin destination from pickup to delivery uh throughout the process the shipment alerts uh are set up for the Milestones through the steps of the shipment process uh exceptions can be found on the tracking page thank you John hey I John I do want to add one thing if you always want exceptions in the profile of the fording Hub um we're building that in the future so we're we're moving to that so that you can have it on every move and Mike I'm gonna pose this question to you if I do not have a commercial invoice ready to provide prior to the cargo departing we'll have it later what is the process for providing the invoice after the cargo dep Parts what is the best way to ensure the invoice is received by UPS to be added to the rest of the shipment stocks okay so um I want to make sure we kind of confine this question into two parts International moves and domestic moves so domestic moves um there is not usually a requirement for an invoice to travel with the goods it's probably you you would want it because it kind of serves as your bill um but there's no requirement for it if it's going to cross a border and that's when it becomes an international move so we we talked about North America to Canada but um some other borders people don't think about is Puerto Rico typically requires a commercial invoice so even though it's a territory of the US so if it's going to cross a border you want a commercial invoice to travel with the cargo in the event that the the goods arrive and it's going to be an international move at one of our service centers we're usually going to stop it and we're going to wait till we have all documentation to move it and that's going to impact your ability to get your cargo to your customer on time um our service centers are filled with amazing people and they are really the champions of our Network they are the ones who help make sure everything's good and your experience is delivered in the way that it is so when they'll do is they'll reach out to you and they'll ask for the documentation they need in order to be able to cross the border excellent excellent um the next question what service can I use to ship Freight locally that is not urgent or does not require air shipping I believe I'll answer that one um you can use North American Air Freights service one day two day three-day Service uh we have a excellent um ground service that we can move P move shipments uh within our Network you can also go on to the up uh ufh site and put order that shipment online uh Mike I think this is going to be something that needs your expertise I noticed that a few of our packages had some type of GPS tracker that gets removed upon delivery can you provide me with a high level overview in how we could potentially leverage this to lower our mobile devices shrinkage okay um so I'm not sure as far as uh the mobile devices I haven't seen the GPS's on the mobile devices I see most of them in the healthc care segment so if you're working in the health care segment a lot of the GPS stuff has to do with tracking like pharmaceutical Goods that's moving um along the network so typically if you're going to do that type of move I'm going to go back and recommend you sit down with a consultant with with ups and talk about your needs there's a way to do it and the way is is that you have to have a plan to capture the GPS at the arrival and have it be sent back to you but it's just one of those really sophisticated things that we need to talk with you about your individual needs and then be able to put a program together that makes sense but Christian thanks for the question um there are solutions out there we just would have to sit down and see what you're talking about and make sure it makes sense to you awesome awesome uh Mike um I think I want to stay with you with this question during the quote request process how do the user indicate that the shipment needs to move in bond yeah um so what's really unique about the the international and North American Air Freight Network right is is most of our facilities are in bond um so when you deal with LTL it has this kind of Open Source not requirement to be in bond so that that question comes up a lot more frequently whenever you're taking somebody who's used to Historic LL and wanting to use like our three-day or our Next Day Air Network we're used to Crossing Borders in our Network the agility of our Network and the flexibility of our network is most of our stuff travels in bond it would be the rare case it would so we would almost have to undo it in my from my perspective thank you thank you Mike great answer uh John um I know you can answer this one I currently use the UPS website to book and track shipments can you explain the difference within with using the you I'm sorry with using the ufh UPS forward in Hub hey another great question I love these questions that um you know the main difference I see is that if you're going to ups.com uh it's under 150 pounds that that is a place to be if it's over 150 pounds come to the UPS boarding Hub and we'll handle your goods I don't know Mike if you want to add anything to that um the only other difference that so the great thing about being one ups and this is the the thing that I would tell you is your login works the exact same as it does on ups.com on the UPS 4 app so you don't need a different log the uh the other piece that I would say is if this is your first I'm gonna say forway for forway uh in first time in forwarding we'll call it first time in forwarding um if you haven't set up uh UPS Supply Chain account John mentioned this get an account number set up with us so the difference is is that you're used to if you're a ups.com customer you're used to a six-digit account number uh it's alpha numeric uh your your process on the UPS foring hubs a nine-digit account number and that really has to do with just basically who's going to be managing your goods across cross borders get a account number that way you can have a good experience awesome awesome thank you um these questions keep rolling in um you guys given some great answers uh John I think this something that you can answer for us if you drop a if you drop shipping to a customer do not but do not want them to see the transfer rate can you only do an electronic CI to keep them from having visibility to those rates short answer yes uh I think that there's a uh much longer answer that I get to that um that um yeah and the short answer yes and I think that's the way that the way that you can put in a UPS foring hub can dictate how that's represented within the parties uh involved with your shipment um so without going into like a demonstration of it uh if you're putting in the information um that is just for the shipper consign or the third party as p on earlier through the demo in the way that you want it represented then it should meet your needs um but I think I'm going to go to Mike here too uh as he's the subject matter expert on a lot of things uh if there's anything to add um or clarify or correct anything I mistakenly said so I would just probably add the fact that typically when you're filling out the documents you want to request something um like invoice removal service or something in that dialogue that's not a check mark that you can make while you're doing the booking it's more of a comment that you would add under special delivery instructions so when you get to that special delivery instruction part you want to ask for um you want to ask for invoice removal services and that's probably the best way to handle it I would again if that's going to be a common thing Tina you're going to be doing that quite frequently I would again recommend you work with a somebody who's a uh UPS business development professional they would develop an sop which is a standard operating procedure that's specific to your business needs and the reason that makes sense is because it's like the plan that we're going to ask the operations to run every single time we move your goods so anything sophisticated anything that specialized to your business needs I'm going to refer to my business development Partners to help you get it set up effectively awesome response awesome this question either one of you can take I think jonis is in your wheelhouse I will ask for a quote through email for international shipments can I use this instead and is there a list of areas this would not cover oh yes uh absolutely so I know we just demonstrated what it was uh like for North American Air Freight uh but uh as I touched on when you're going to get a quote there's other modes that you have available there and especially within Air Freight and uh internationally those options are available as well uh we did cover on this uh in a uh webinar earlier this year when we were talking about interational Air Freight though um I think that um uh it'd be good to uh go and find the material we put out online uh or the recording that we have out there for the webinar on International Air Freight but absolutely 100% or a thousand per I want to say is that the ups for Hub can be used for the international moves as well thank you John I think our next webinar is going to cover ocean so um I think that's like the plan is is we'll be talking about ocean quoting on the UPS forting Hub and the Nuance of it so um you know stay tuned for the next question and answer session too because that one's going to be all about water and John I think I'm want to stick with you for this one um y this is from Nick Gentry I have a login for ups.com for tracking tracing and so forth asking to Ure that I'm asking to ensure I heard you correctly if I have a ups.com login that can also be used as my login for the UPS 40 Hub site is that correct yes that is correct so uh when you click the log in uh on ups.com and you click the login UPS foring hub it's the same place that it's taking you um and it'll ask for your username and password it's the same thing in the foring hub as it is for ups.com yes you did here correctly thank you thank you um Mike um this one's for you I'm sure you can answer this one thinking through signature confirmation opportunities we observe at our stores what controls are in place to ensure the driver is obtaining signature confirmation and delivering at the same time in some cases no signature was acquired but delivered and in some cases it was marked delivered by cut off time but actually delivered at a later time in some cases a picture was taken when store was closed and delivered later yeah Okay Christian this is like a curveball and you're going to make me go back to my days in small package right like so um what you're talking about if I remember the terminology right is a commercial delivery and when there is a commercial delivery I believe the policy related to commercial delivery is that a signature doesn't always have to be captured for every single one um I'm not the expert on this Christi it has been since 2017 when I worked in small package and I'm just kind of spitball on what I think I remember about it so I would say this is a conversation for your small package business development team um with forwarding we're dealing with Freight we we pretty much if it's signature required we're getting a signature required so that's um I think we're we're one UPS I just don't know all the details of every part of UPS great answer great answer and and John I'm just going to stick with you on this one um just to keep that theme rolling uh are the tracking devices provided by UPS or something the company has to provide I'm sorry I say John I me my I've seen it both ways yeah I've seen it both ways so um yeah there's some medical providers who have their own um Pro so there's some medical companies when they're moving these Goods have their own devices and then sometimes they're working with our Solutions team to find a device I would tell you that when the we're looking it's really one of those things about whether or not we have the availability of the solution based on your business need um so I've seen it go both ways on that that seems to be the uh last of our questions thank you everyone for our for these great questions um thank our panelists John Burnham and Michael shim for their great responses and great detail explaining and demonstrating the nav airf Freight Network and the ufh site please visit the site to see how simple and quick you can get get quotes for North American Air Freights and Michael thanks again for your expertise and your experience and knowledge for everything you do for UPS great uh GFF um also before I go there's going to be a survey please complete the survey let us know how we're doing let us know what you think we should improve let us know what you think of ufh overall and with that uh John Mike I think our time has come to an end today um thank you all for joining and have a great and wonderful day thanks everybody thanks everyone
