Frequent preparation mistakes to watch for

  • Entering abbreviated or inconsistent names that do not match government ID causes TIN mismatches and processing delays.
  • Uploading low-quality scans of supporting documents which make verification difficult and trigger requests for re-submission.
  • Forgetting to date the form or entering ambiguous date formats increases the likelihood of processing errors and manual follow-up.
  • Signing with initials or using an unofficial signature image when the form requires a full-authority signature can invalidate the filing.

Typical eSignature and eSubmission flow when permitted

When electronic signing is acceptable to all parties, follow an orderly workflow to preserve intent, attribution, and a reproducible record of the transaction.

  • Document Prep: Convert to PDF/A and place fillable fields
