Grant amounts will be up to $1,000. Instructions: Complete and return three copies of this application along with the following items, with the required signatures to Associate Dean Patricia M. Carey at the address noted above, no later than March 5, 2010:     Grant Request (see other side for more information) Faculty Statement of Support, including the role the faculty will play over the course of your research Curriculum Vitae Current Copy of NYU Transcript Incomplete applications and applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Doctoral candidates may qualify for this grant only once. Certification: In accepting a Pre-Doctoral Summer Research Grant, I certify that I have not conducted my proposed research prior to June 1, 2010, and that I will complete my research within the time period noted, otherwise I may forfeit my grant. I am responsible for submitting no later than September 15, 2010 a report/narrative summarizing in 3-5 pages the results of my summer research experience, including question under investigation, outcome, and how monies from the Grant were used. I give NYUSteinhardt permission to publicize my abstract and research findings in an appropriate format. I further agree to report my research findings at the Dean’s Grants for Student Research Colloquium during the fall semester, following completion of my research. It should be stapled to the completed cover (see other side), and include the following:  Abstract, i.e. one paragraph summary of your proposal, separate from the body of the proposal, including title and a bibliography;  Your specific research question(s);  Plan of work, i.e., methodological approach/research design you plan to use, including, where relevant, instruments and measure you will use, and availability and confirmation of research participants;  Time schedule for completing your research, including start and end dates, and estimated number of hours per week you plan to dedicate to this work;  Itemized budget for how you will use the grant, which may include purchase of necessary equipment, travel to conferences or collections, transcription, and/or other justifiable expense.  Significance of your project or the expected benefit of your research.
