a contract that contains a change in work or material specified in the contract or a change in a subcontractor's time commitment or schedule in connection with performance in accordance with agreed-upon work shall be null and void in the following situations: a contract for the construction of a home, or an improvement to a home, and a change in the number of units to be made shall be void if the contract was entered into on or after January 1, 1991. A new service contract may be substituted if approved by the department. A service contract that was previously executed shall be valid as long as it has been approved with one modification, or for 10 years, whichever is longer. A change in contract notice is a written notice that requires the contractor to: a change in contract notice is a clear and specific statement of the conditions and reasons for a change in the scope, character, form, substance or manner of a contract.
