NEW RESIDENT GUIDE FOR STATE OF ALASKA U.S. Legal Forms, Inc. http://www.uslegalforms.com Becoming a new resident of a new home state often involves the reorganization of your legal affairs. This form is a guide to help you in meeting various requirements, such as voting, driver’s license, identification card and vehicle registration requirements. VOTING REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS - You are considered a resident for voting purposes if you are in Alaska with the intent to remain there and the intent to return there when you leave, and are not registered to vote in another state or are willing to cancel that registration. In order to vote in an Alaska election, you must meet the following requirements:  You must be a citizen of the United States.  You must be 18 years of age or older.  You must not register to vote in another jurisdiction.  You must register to vote 30 days before an election. You can register to vote in Alaska by completing a Voter Registration Application (which you can obtain online at http://www.ltgov.state.ak.us/elections/regapp.php ) and presenting it in person to the Division of Elections, a voter registrar in your community, a city or borough clerk, or a voter registration agency (DMV, Health and Social Services, Community and Economic Development, or recruitment offices of the armed forces of the United States located in Alaska). You may also mail it to a Division of Elections office. If you initially register to vote by mail , you must include information that will verify your identity by providing a copy of a driver's license, state identification card, birth certificate, passport or hunting and fishing license, as well as your birth date and at least the last four digits of your social security number. You will receive your Voter ID card in the mail, which will contain your precinct name and number. Voter cards are mailed out once a month, generally around the second week of the month. Polling places are set up for each voting precinct.
